Heat Diffuser for Gas Stove or Electric Stove, Flame Guard Simmer Plate - by Home-X

We got a new RV and the Furrion range in the kitchen, per the mfg, is set to "High, to medium high range". That means we can't turn it down to just simmer a soup or gently do fish. You basically get Medium well or Well done meat if you blink. This is the only thing that makes the kitchen useable for many things like soups, sauces, rice, fish, delicate veggies, etc. Just toss it on the burner, and then the pot/pan on top of it... it'll take the full 'welders torch' level of our cook top down to a gentle hot tub warmer easily. In fact, it's so good at it's job, I've had to learn not to under-cook certain things (pancakes) again. As for cleaning... meh, don't bother. The first time you use it, it's going to tarnish up and never come back. Seriously though, it's clean... everything is burned off, so just let it cool and put it back in the cabinet for next time. After 2 or 3 times, it's just a nice bronze/brown color and that's fine.

This gadget for reducing burner heat works great. Folds and easy to use on the stove. I use it on a gas stove and the back that takes the flame darkens but is not impaired at al. It the the nature of the item and the way it is used. My grandmother used to use coffee can lids for the same purpose and they also go dark but they still looked great. It is the same with this. it’s nice looking, works well and easily and has a nice cover on the handle so you can remove it easily from the heat without burning your hand or need for a pot holder. Cools quickly so just fold and put away.

This heat diffuser works great with my gas stove, making it much easier to cook sauces and stuff at low to medium heat without burning. Subtract one star because of discoloration after only a couple weeks of use, but it works perfectly

Bought this quite a while ago. This is a good product once you get the hang of your flame to diffuser ratio and pot size. No more burning or scorching any pots that need to simmer or just stay warm until ready to serve.

This works as it should but I don't know for how long. In the description is says it's stainless steel, but I'm going to say it's not as good of a stainless as a most outdoor gas grills. In another part of the description it says the finish is paint. So there you go. Probably a painted on Stainless or electro-plating... Either way this still works as it should, I just don't know about the longevity! I have another one that is 20 Years old, that is just made of Iron / Steel, and that one has lasted a long time, but If you read other reviews they say the paint melts and sticks. I'm using this on a gas cook top and it discolored as I expected it to, but there was no signs of melting. I believe this will work out fine for my use.

I use this when I make big pots of soup, stew, or gumbo that need to simmer for a long time. Even at low settings, my gas stove will burn some of the pot contents making the whole batch taste funny. this prevents the burning. I put it between the burner and the pot at low settings. Nothing has burned yet. I don't need to constantly stir the contents. It will discolor a bit, but it doesn't affect the function. Think of the colors a motorcycle tailpipe has where it meets the engine. Also, use a little common sense in regard to the bare metal part of the handle when it's hot. you would use a potholder or oven mitt when handling a cast iron skillet or stockpot handles. This is no different. Good piece of gear. I'm happy with its performance.
