If you are a SRV then this book and the next book in the series are a must have. The author spent countless hours establishing the timeline. A great read.

This is definitely the most unusual format I've ever seen for a biography, but it's great! I don't know if you have to be slightly OCD like me to appreciate all the detailed reference information, but I love it! I think it also works as a biography, but even if you don't care about all the reference info, some of it is probably useful as a timeline to support the narrative. I also think the book is great as an overview of the Dallas and Austin blues-rock scenes of the '60s and '70s. It was so interesting to learn about the other musicians involved and how they all played together at different times and in different combinations. It seems to me that there were so many times it would have been much easier for Stevie to abandon his hardcore blues path. We are so lucky that he and Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon realized and persevered with their vision!I love Craig Hopkins' approach of letting the quotes by friends and associates of Stevie speak for themselves. I think it allows the reader to come as close as possible to knowing Stevie as a person. Stevie was flawed, like all of us are, but nonetheless he sounds like an honest, sweet, funny, loyal and generous person that I would have been honored to know.

This Tomb is a good read, lots of great pictures, for mine it could have done without all the referencing to articles in papers, magazine's etc, as after a while the reader just skimmed past them, the really interesting stuff was hearing from Stevie's friends, and associates and Stevie himself, its a book documentary of a good man and a great guitarist who like all of us was only human, the author has done a fantastic job putting this together, and is as thorough as any SRV fan could hope for, a must have for Stevie fans and fans of the human endeavour.

I'm one of those guys that Never got to see Stevie play inperson,,,, I was SO STUPID and regret it !! I check out everything SRV and this book brings you facts and information you wouldn't know !! A great timeline from when he first picked up a guitar as a kid,,, to when he was laid to rest !!Such a shame he was taken from us,, such a STUPID way he was killed !! He had SO MUCH tallent and was so ABOVE and BEYOND other guitar players that they just would stop and watch !!An OUTSTANDING BOOK about an OUTSTANDING Man, Singer and Guitarist !!

The story of Blues guitar slinger, Stevie Ray Vaughan is told in a straight forward manner with absolutely fabulous pictures. Any fan of music, regardless of genres, should want this book. The two volumes covers his life from birth and the early years, till his death in 1990. The volumes are encased in a beautiful sleeve that will look interesting in any home. I found the price cheaper on Amazon because of the free shipping.

Once I started reading, I couldn't stop until the end. I was totally drawn in as though I was one of the people in the books. I am so glad I purchased these. I am so grateful for getting to know someone to the depth that they described to me. It made me feel like I was part of Stevie's life. Thank you to the author.

I bought this as a gift for my father who has always been a huge Stevie Ray Vaughn fan. He absolutely loves it. The size is more of a coffee table book size and not one that is easy to read unless you're sitting at a table. So, that's the only complaint I have.

This set is a must read for any serious Stevie Ray fan. The content-rich format and fantastic excerpts are pure gold. Makes you long for the "old days"! Makes you feel you knew the man and leaves us wanting there to be more to the story! Buy this.......you won't be disappointed! The Amazon shipping was super fast and arrived before expected.

I bought the 2 parter of this great SRV biography....unfortunately I only received the second part/book.Then I saw the first book again for sale & thought great. Wasn’t sure as over £75 inc post but went for it...I love SRV.UNFORTUNATELY THE SECOND PART arrived not the advertised 1st! I returned and payed over £33 as I didn’t realise it was going to the States. After not hearing anything for almost a month it was myself that had to contact the seller after I realised via tracking the book had been received about 2 weeks beforehand!After a rather long drawn out discussion I did receive my refund of over £75 plus was offered the £33+ in return postage but I declined as I had originally agreed to pay this. A bit of an unfortunate affair.Not sure if a lack of communication or something else but I am happy the seller refunded & offered to pay the return postage. I originally put feedback before I had any communication and 2 stars...this is an update.Maybe I’ll get that 1st SRV book some day lol 🤟🏼

beautiful, full of color photographs, memorabilia, information.It is clearly the best biography in business related SRV. if you love this artist you h must have a copy. Craig Hopkins did a great job.

Quite fine for the price. Perhaps a little unclear on it being a mixed biography/coffee table book.Would recommend it more for a guitar player than a general musc fan.
