Years of waiting finally paid off!!
I pre-ordered Nov. 2017 and received the book today (Sept. 2019). This book (and series of books) is so great I would have waited 10 yrs. Nothing compares to the detail and different views/cut aways of the cars. Great gift for any f1 fan. This book is hardcover. All previous years were soft cover. I'm so happy it finally came!!

Typical Piola quality - My first Hardcopy!
With 3 1/2 seasons combined in one compared to the standard year to year, Giorgio and his team put as much detail into this as they normally do. As normal as well are the somewhat random translation "errors", which for me i actually enjoy, allows me to take a second and go do some translation work of my own and pick up on a few Italian words in the process.RECOMMEND!! This is my 9th of the collection! Still need a few more back issues.

Wonderful illustrations; not so wonderful translation from Italian
I've always liked the author's very detailed illustrations of F1 car systems and designs. What's always difficult is that the translation from Italian to English is somewhat odd at times. Now and then number call-outs and arrows pointing to features are not mentioned in the text or the text refers to something on a previous page or to a feature that is not shown.Carping aside, this is certainly the best technical analysis of F1 cars that I've run across. Worth getting even with its flaws.

Drawings, magnificent! Explanations, WHHAAATT?!
Effort required to create the drawings is amazing. The word descriptions of what you are viewing, in most cases, incomprehensible. And, I am an F1 junkie!!! I should have passed on this one based upon others panning it in prior reviews, but, I told myself, "How difficult could it be?!!". Wrong.

Global warming is coming and it will destroy half the earth. Be prepared.
It is complicated and I have not completed it yet. The illustrations are great.I did read Christopher Ketcham's "This Land" It is terrific; pure poetry. Everyone concerned about this nation should be reading this book.

Discriptions should match illustrations
Very detailed book with good illustrations. Some of the illustration discriptions are a little confusing on what it belongs to. Other than that it's a good book.

Usually brilliant but unfortunately very disappointing!
I love these books and have most of them so was disappointed when they stopped coming out yearly. I liked the fact that it looked at every single f1 team and the developments each car had throughout the year and an explanation as to why they were introduced.I was happy to see that there was going to be a bumper issue of 2016,17&18 and in particular the progress that "force India" my favourite team had made as its most successful seasons were 16 & 17.I was very disappointed to see that in this "bumper" book the focus was almost entirely on ferrari, Mercedes & redbull. There was the odd drawing here or there but nothing like the detail & effort placed on the top 3 teams and nothing like previous issues that covered "everything".The previous issues of this book were just as detailed on the top 3 but also shone a light onto the lower teams, their struggles & achievements, this version almost ignores the rest of the field completely, I was very disappointed and felt that unlike the previous ones this book was rushed out despite the massive delay.I'm not sure I'd purchase another as what I liked most I. E the detail on "all" teams is not there anymore and frankly the top teams get enough attention on TV/press/internet as it is.Otherwise the drawings are brilliant and informative as usual & have some interesting sections on suspension & steering wheels etc but personally would recommend previous years over this one as they cover "everything" not just the top teams, and for the cost I wouldn't have paid it knowing it would be 99% merc, ferrari & redbull.

This book is a technical and artistic masterpiece.
I bought the 'Formula 1 Technical Analysis 2016 - 2018' for my husband's birthday, he is delighted and has this to say about the book - "Sadly, this is the last in the series, the last of these truly excellent books on the technical elements of the Grand Prix car that are sometimes hidden or even not noticed by the enthusiast. In fact, Giorgio tells us that difficulty in obtaining access to the cars has become increasingly difficult as secret design features are shrouded in secrecy. Also, the demand from magazines to publish instant details does not satisfy waiting for an end of season book.As always, the illustrations are truly wonderful, I have always wondered how such detail is drawn. I have always admired Giorgio's frankness in his descriptions of failings in performance and design, while his praise of designability has his full approval. For anyone interested in the design and inner workings of the cars, the engines, gearboxes, aerodynamics, and how the cars are operated and driven etc, this book and its earlier editions is a must and of course great value.Patrick Doyle (thank you Susan for my present)

Exceptional
Excellent illustrations and analysis covering technology over the passed 3 years. The drawings include concepts that were run in test sessions or free practice that weren't successful enough to make it to race.Accessible for people with minimal understanding of tech/aerodynamicsWould recommend to anyone with interest in F1

Finally!
Finally arrived after ordering back in may 2018. Nice change for it to be a harback book but inside due to it cramming in 3 seasons plus a 2019 preview into 64 pages more than the previous version (2015/2016) it doesnt go team by team so unless you support the top 3 teams dont expect much. However as a long term follower of these books and all the technical detail of formula 1 this is not to be missed, especially being the last in the series.
