So.... I was comparing this bar to a popular name brand version and here is how it stacks up. First, the scent is sort of waxy and earthy. Not entirely unpleasant, but I am not a fan. They could afford to use more essential oils to boost the fragrance to cover the waxy smell and make it more pleasant. It is not effective using it in the shower like some of the popular name brands. This needs to be used after you shower and after you have towel dried, while your skin is still damp. It needs to be emulsified between your palms and then applied to your skin, or it drags and pulls your skin; much like rubbing a bar of wax on your skin. It doesn’t just melt into your skin either. It sort of sits on top of your skin and leaves a slightly tacky, waxy film on your skin. This bar would probably hold up better in the heat than the popular brand though, because of it’s waxiness. It’s not all together unpleasant, but not what I prefer. I get the Ethique concept, but for the price you spend on this bar, I expected more in the formulation. Until I find a compatible formula, I will stick with the popular crown shaped lotion bar I have been using.

The bar is too hard in slightly chillier temperatures, so I couldn't really use it. When the weather warmed up it crumbled. I mushed it back together, but it just crumbles everywhere and makes a mess. Also not incredibly moisturizing or great smelling, it's just a butter bar. Also, it came in a plastic shipping package, so it's 100% useless to buy this to avoid plastic or to try to moisturize your skin. @Ethique, Please make a better bar and ship it without plastic. Thank you!

I am very happy with my other Ethique products but unfortunately, this lotion simply doesn't last. I find that I need to apply it more frequently than other lotions in a bottle and given how much you need in one sitting, you end up running through the bar in a matter of weeks. I simply cannot afford to purchase a new lotion bar every couple of weeks.

I like that I can use it right in the shower after I'm done scrubbing up. It Smells good and not over powering. I gave it 4 stars because I do find it a bit difficult to rub in and around like regular bottle lotion. I don't see my self going back to any bath product in a bottle, as you see in my last picture I'm working my way to going plastic bottle free tried of the waste and chemicals.

I love my Ethique shampoo and conditioner, so I thought I'd branch out into their skin care line. Unfortunately, I did not like this butter block. It left my skin feeling greasy, tacky, and weird. Clothes stuck to my skin and I couldn't get comfortable. I ended up blending it with some coconut and grapeseed oils, and I like it much better as a lotion now.

I am trying to reduce my plastic trash, and appreciate the ease of travel with Ethique products. This lotion took more adjustment than their other solid products (shampoo, conditioner and shower bar). At first, I thought it was going to be too much hassle. Rubbing the bar directly on my skin was not ideal...and then, where to keep it between uses! The solution to both those challenges has me happy with this product.I had a rectangular, small glass container with a Myrtlewood lid that had been my mothers. The bar was soft enough to smush it into the container.As far as application, I found rubbing just a little between my hands liquifies the "cream" and makes it easy to apply. It really protects skin better than a traditional lotion.The fragrance is pleasant, but light enough that it won't overwhelm.

This arrived via a subscription order. I was disappointed at the packaging, the entire Ethique box and paper were saturated with oils from the lotion bar plus he items that were packaged with it. Very messy.That being said, it’s got an odor that is a bit “off”...slightly rancid. I’ve used other Ethique lotion bars, shampoo bars and deodorant bars and I’ve necer come across this issue.This issue won’t stop me from using Ethique products again, but I will not order anything from them through my subscriptions in the future. The way it was packaged was just too messy.

I love the packaging and the idea of a butter block. It worked nicely on my body BUT the scent is SO STRONG, I just couldn't wear it. I tried several times and ended up throwing the bar away as the scent would be all over my clothes even at the end of the day. If you don't mind strong smells, then go for it, it's a great product, otherwise let's hope the company will make an unscented version soon.

I got this, was excited to try my new soap. felt very for odd for soap while i was trying to wash my hands. then i realized it was lotion! >.> so ummm... its really nice lotion!
