great price for great sword
I had bought and returned 2 swords before tgis that were about $20 more and were very poorly made. This one is great for training. I get a lot of compliments on it because the design is so pretty. I also love that the sword has an engraving on each side. It helps me when learning new moves to keep the correct side up.

Not worth the price, but functional for intended purpose.
Overpriced and loose fitted, but can be corrected. Works suitably for intended purposes in which it was bought for: tai chi and exercise, but would be better if saved as a wall mount.Biggest complaint is that it rattles in the handle, which is wood with plastic hand guards. Have seen worse, but don't feel it's worth the listed sales price.

Tai Chi practice sword Phoenix motif
I'm a novice and new to Tai Chi sword however I have trained for many years with the Japanese katana. I purchased this item as a training weapon (flexible, unsharpened blade) and pleased with my purchase. It arrived way ahead of the scheduled 'availability date' which was very nice. It comes with a tassel, chain and a cotton bag. The blade and scabbard fit snug, no risk of the blade sliding out. It's smooth (no rough edges) where the metal hand guard meets the wooden handle. I may have more to add once I use it for the first time in the very near future.

Certainly lives up to a low standard.
Note for images: I removed the tassel on the blade. Didn't like the feel. The middle two metal parts I was able to push into place with friction, I did not want to remove them in hopes that they stay in place.I bought this item to use for Tai Chi and as a prop weapon (no sparing). The first issue I had is minor, but none the less pickier people would be upset I was content to let that one go; the tassels are not the colored pictured, red, but rather are yellow/wheat gold. The first week I had it, everything seemed to be fine. After a week of being drawn from the scabbard , the scabbard began to disassemble. The metal ornaments around the wooden body of the scabbard have all come loose, save the on on the tip. It seems they were only fitted with glue, or may have just been pushed on, with the hope that friction would hold them in place. Now, when the sword is drawn, the metals that hold the cord both slide. The blade cannot be sheathed or unsheathed without them trying to follow the blade off. I do not believe that I have mishandled the item. I made sure to assist the blade out with my thumb. The only part about the scabbard that was appealing since these issues occurred was the stain of the wood and it's grain. It is a pretty wood. It is perhaps not as smooth, but I didn't expect to wipe a finger on the wood without a bit of surface resistance. The sword itself seems to be alright. It was lightly oiled. Though a bit wobbly due to the blade's thinness, that was to be expected for the price. All in all, based on my experience, I would opt to buy a different item for my purposes. The functionality and image of drawing the blade is essential to the use of this item. It cannot provide the expected satisfaction.Note for images: I removed the tassel on the blade. Didn't like the feel. The middle two metal parts I was able to push into place with friction, I did not want to remove them in hopes that they stay in place.

The sword wasn't too smooth to go back into the sheath.
The sword wasn't too smooth to go back into the sheath. It has to fight a little for it to get into the sheath.

For display only
It came oily and dirty (the blade). I just wiped it off and put new blade oil on it. Very flimsy blade. For display only. Otherwise I like it.
