Best comfort, support, feel for basketball! Insole recommendation...
This is my forth pair of Ektios. First three, I had the Wraptors which were awesome and because of that got the Breakaway.First things first... since I've started playing in Ektios, I have not (knock on wood) sprained my ankles yet. I have weak ankles and used to have a tendency to sprain them often. It's been over 2 years now, and I'm happy to say that my game has improved so much one reason being I haven't had any injuries to keep me out for too long. The Breakaway, best basketball shoes I've ever owned. The feeling combination of soft and firm, soft on the feet for super comfort, and firm on the sides where the support is needed. Like the Wraptors, the shoe has nubs on the inside and outside of the outsole for better balance, traction, stability, and the two Velcros to wrap the feet which makes to shoe become part of you. The Breakaway is the improved version of the Wraptor. I recommend both, but personally would spend the extra to get the Breakaway. This shoe is all around 5 star shoe, especially in terms of comfort and support. Only downside is the insole. This goes for both the Wraptor and the Breakaway. The insole on the Wraptor was flimsy and lasted about 2 days before tearing. Easy fix, I put my own insoles in which I like to do anyways, never had a problem afterwards. The Breakaway comes with a soft and very comfortable insole that is glued to the shoe. It has been great for about 2 months, until last night, the heel of the insole ripped off and pretty much started to crumble. The insoles take a huge beating because the shoe is attached to your feet unlike other shoes where your feet will slide a little. On top of that, the constant sweating and drying changes the material. I have contacted customer support and let them know of the insole issue. Once again, I am pleased with the way they treat their customers. Quick and reasonable response. Because of this, I am keeping my review as 5 stars.*RECOMMENDATION*If you get the Wraptors or the Breakaways, have your own insoles ready. The Wraptor insoles are okay but will wear out quickly. The Breakaway insoles are great, but they will wear and crumble in time! To save yourself time from picking out all the pieces of the crumbled insoles, which are glued to the shoe... break the glue when you first get the shoes. It's up to you whether to change the insoles, but make sure you are able to take them out freely at anytime when the insoles wear out.*UPDATE*It's been another couple years, and I (knock on wood) still have not had any ankle injuries. I have gone through another 4 Breakaways and I still stand firm that these are the best ankle support basketball shoes. Only issue now is Ektio has stopped making these shoes. I had bought 3 knowing they were going to stop, and I'm on my last pair. I don't know what shoes to get after my last pair wear out. The only gripe I have about these shoes are that they wear quickly. The soles of the shoes keep their grip, but the first things to go are the straps and the side walls. Ektio now are focusing their ankle support technology on hiking boots. I hope they go back to making basketball shoes in the near future!

Great Shoes.
Originally had a pair of Nike BBall shoes, but they never supported my ankles so I kept injuring them. Did some research and came across these Ektio's. Extremely glad I did! I'd highly recommend them to anyone worried about spraining their ankle(s). I no longer have to tape my ankles when I play. These shoes give a nice snug fit and great support. I noticed others have said that the shoes are a size small but I didn't have a problem. They're light and great traction on the court. They do take time to lace up but well worth it. I no longer worry about injuring myself. I'd give them 5 stars except the glue they use for the insoles isn't very good. The front part of the insoles don't stick to the shoe but they're still in place because back part is still sticking. Nothing I can't fix with some simple glue though.

Quality fell...
Great support for the ankle. This was the second time I ordered this product and the quality wasn't the same. It started falling apart after a couple of uses.

Unique and expertly crafted shoe
I have had these sneaks for a few weeks now. I started playin ball again this summer after not playing for most of the winter. For some reason I just keep spraining my right ankle. I was really bummed out thinking that maybe I'll have to stop playing ball for good. But I did some research found these sneaks and decided to give them a shot. When I first took them out of the box the first thing I immediately noticed was how shockingly light they were and not as bulky as I thought they would be. I really was expecting some heavy clunky clown shoes. So that was a plus since I never wear heavy shoes. A lot of people have said to buy a size up due to them running small but I did not take that advice and just bought my usual 11.5. Now here's where it gets interesting and is one of things that makes this shoe so unique. When I put them on without lacing them up or anything they felt too small and my toes were crunched a little. I immediately regreted not getting a size up and was about to send them back but I really wanted to test them out. So I laced them up and did up the straps as instructed and was amazed to find the tightening of the straps against the top of your ankle actually shortens your feet a little. In my case the perfect amount. They are a little strange at first but once you break them in and figure out the perfect tightness for you these shoes will blow you away. The traction and ankle support are simply the best of any shoe ive ever worn. I can do lateral push offs like nobody's business and drive to the hoop or rebound with so much more agression because I am not worried about spraining my ankle. I can think of a number of incidents in the last few weeks where I would of done just that had I not been wearing these bad boys. There's so much I could say about these shoes but im tired and have written enough. I highly recommend them to anybody with ank issues and or someone who wants perfect traction for any surface.
