The sizes vary a lot, some have built-in imprints/embossing
I got these a while ago but I haven't used them for cookies yet. The sizes range quite a bit. The shapes are the largest, and the letters and numbers are the smallest. The letters and numbers are bigger than the Howard's bugs cookie cutters. There are built-in imprints on some of the cutters. These are so that when you cut the cookie, there will be an imprint of the cutter design on it. Because of the imprint part, should the dough get stuck, you will have problems getting it out.My husband took some to use with playdoh and he really liked the ice cream cone, which has a nice cone criss-cross imprints. It worked okay with the playdoh.I think the best way to avoid problems to is make sure your dough is rolled the right thickness, and that it is firm enough to hold together, but has enough "fat" in it to not stick to the cutter. I would suggest spraying the cutters with PAM to help it not stick, and very lightly flouring the top surface of the rolled out dough before cutting.I like that these are plastic and that you can put them in the dishwasher. It would be pain to handwash all of them, especially if there is dough stuck in the imprint parts. I did handwash them when I first got them, and that took a while. I also dried them by hand then left them out to finish up drying. They don't rust so that is another good thing. There are several different themes with these cutters, so you can make cookies year round for the holidays. Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Valentines, Halloween, shapes, things that move (airplane, helicopter, boat, etc), animals, sports, numbers, letters, the musical note, and other symbols like the question mark round out the versatility of the cutters. I think there is also a a guitar if I recall correctly. For the price you can't go wrong as there is 100 cutters here. Even if you don't use them much, it's still a good value. I think you could use them for fondant too.

Bought For Another, Buying Another For Myself
I bought this as a birthday present for my sister last year. We have the best memories of making cookies with our grandmother, and my sister had just recently got into baking. This cookie cutter set launched me into the Sister Hall of Fame. She absolutely loves them. The tiny details do have a tendency to get stuck on a few of the cutters, but flouring or spraying Pam on the cutters should do the trick. As for shipping, I didn't have a single problem. The cookie cutters arrived in the same package as the other items I had purchased for her. For certain, a smart purchase, and definitely one I'll be making for myself soon.

One complaint
These are great. I've had them nearly 6 years now and they are holding up perfectly. My one complaint is that some of the cutters have very intricate designs and cookie dough gets stuck and the mold doesn't come out properly. I think those require the dough to be rolled bigger. And it's only one a few of them and this set comes with a ton.

the majority of the shapes don't work
This set has too much detail. Even with cold dough, the thin horse's tail always fall's off, the top of the 'A' doesn't come out. The dough sticks to the cookie cutters, even if you grease them. Still for the 20 or so that work well, i.e. the truck, the pumpkin, the tree; it's still a decent value. We just moved most of them from the kitchen to the play-do drawer. I was looking forward to having an annual supply of great cookies--a disappointment for sure.

A lot of cookie cutters!
I am only a casual cookie baker with no need to make holiday cookies and only an occasional desire to make cookies. I wanted a set of cutters for the few times I do decide to make cookies. I found this set overwhelming and quite a space hog in my small kitchen. However, the cutters are very durable and of high quality and large enough to makes the shapes distinguishable in the finished cookies, so I can only imagine any serious cookie baker, especially a prolific holiday baker, would be tickled pink with this set. But if you are only looking for a sometime use set or have limited space I'd think twice about such a large collection of cutters.

Excellent
Great Product, even better price. These cookie cutters (which we used as play-doh cutters) are great. They are very well made, and come in a huge variety of shapes. The colors are very basic which keep them from looking dated. I would highly recommend these to anyone who needs an item like these.

Two year olds love them!
I purchased this product so that two to three year old kids can use them when they play with Play-Doh. Supervised, these cutters are safe and do not harm the kids. The best part: they love them!

Purchased a few years ago.
Wife and kids are still using this set for baking and for arts and crafts. We use a plastic storage container to store and keep all the pieces together. Quite a large cookie cutter set.
