This is the best product I've found all year.
I'm not one to write a lot of reviews, but I felt obligated to publicly praise this product. I'm a person who enjoys rigorously A/B testing every product in my bathroom, but after trying ethique, I feel no need to ever buy another conditioner. I have some very strict requirements, and this bar performs better than I ever expected across each bullet:* it's a great price for how long it lasts* it comes in zero-waste packaging (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)* it's super easy to use despite being a bar - it's not crumbly and it doesn't melt* it's chemical free and all ingredients score low on the EWG database* it's suds free so it doesn't hurt the environment* it nourishes my dry, brittle ends without being greasy or oily* it doesn't contain apple cider vinegar (b/c that ingredient actually damages your hair over time)I have really dry ends because I used to color my hair, but I also have a fairly greasy scalp. This conditioner has made my hair so unbelievable soft without exacerbating the oil issue. I went to my hairdresser and she immediately noticed a difference in the texture of my hair and remarked on how healthy it felt and looked. This has never happened to me before. I felt like a hair champion. Some tips while using (although this conditioner is stupid simple to use): - store in a container so the bar can dry out between usages. I have a little jar with a screw-on lid on the side of my tub, and the bar lives in there - don't be fooled by the small size of the bar! Yes, it's small but it lasts forever - if you have oily hair and you're nervous about using the bar, instead of rubbing the bar directly on your hair, just swipe it once across your palm and apply the product manually. You can always build up with another layer if you feel like you didn't get enough - finally, once you are converted and realize this is the best conditioner you've ever used, buy in bulk directly from the company so that you ship only once using eco-friendly packing materials! Woo!

Works on Curly Hair
So I'm going on this new low impact beaty routine. I bought this bar when my conventional conditioner ran out and I was ready to swap it out for something solid. It has a very different light texture compared to conditioners I've used in the past. It feels like "it's doing nothing" but when my hair dried it was very soft.

These products ARE NOT Palm Free
This review concerns the ingredients used in your products which claim to be free of palm oil and, I assume, palm derived materials. I recently ordered your shampoo and conditioner bars and was disappointed to find the presence of many palm derived materials. There is no commercially available cetyl alcohol, steary alcohol, stearic acid, decyl glucoside, caprylic/capric triglyceride that is not derived form palm oil. I don't know about the Face Sampler because you don't list the ingredients which is against FDA labeling requirements for selling cosmetics in the US. I will be returning all products and encourage you to reach out to the Palm Free Council if you want to sell truly palm free finished products in the US.

Curly Girl Approved
I have been on my curl journey for a while now. I realize that I have tried a lot of different products. Some I have loved and others not so much. What is constant is the excessive plastic consumption! It really bothers me even though I recycle. It just seems unnecessary. I have been searching for items that use less plastic and are more environmentally conscious. Across my social media feed a conditioner bar from Amazon kept popping up. I love the idea of a beauty bar so I copied the ingredients, popped it into curlsbot.com and found it's curly girl method approved! . I ordered up the Ethique Wonderbar and got it the next day! The smell is nice and subtle which was the first thing I noticed. The cardboard box it came in is degradable and so I gave it a try. I washed with no poo then rubbed the conditioner bar over my entire wet head. Was able to spend some extra time on areas I had noticed were dry as well as the roots where frizz may appear. I am loving the results. The conditioner didn't weigh my fine hair down and the subtle smell does not linger. I also have some terrific shine. I am pretty sure I will continue to use the Wonderbar for regular cleanse day. It is an ethically produced and environmentally friendly choice.

Not sure if the compromise is worth it
I'm not sure how I feel about this. It does smell great, I was attracted to it because I like the idea of package-free soap, and the claim that the bar lasts longer than bottles of conditioner and works great to tame frizzy hair were appealing to me. I've tried the shampoo and I like it--because it lathers easily, it's just as simple as using shampoo from a bottle. The conditioner is a different story though. Because it does not lather, this means you are rubbing the conditioner on your hair (more like "pressing it on the hair" from root to tip, in sections.) It takes longer and there's the terrible uncertainty that you're not getting enough of it on the hair or not covering all the hair. I have enough uncertainty in my life, I don't need it in the shower too... So, while I understand the merits of the conditioner bar, it's not as convenient as traditional conditioner and I'm not convinced that it works better. The trade-off wasn't worth it for me.

Works well, but not as efficient as it claims
This conditioner bar really works, and works well, on my long, thick hair. I ordered it in my pursuit of a plastic-free shower routine and I really appreciate Ethique's alignment with that goal, and doing so with a quality product. HOWEVER, this bar did not last nearly as long as it claimed. Yes, I have a lot of long hair so I probably use more than the average customer, but the box says it replaces something like 8 bottles of conditioner. Hahahahahahahahaha! Unless you have a crew cut, I doubt you can make it last that long. It lasted me about two months -- before it broke into multiple pieces that are difficult to use efficiently. I am lucky to be near a Colorado company that makes conditioner bars in thick discs, which last longer because they wear down as discs and do not break in half. Plus, they are much thicker for the same price. I'll probably just stick with them.

Make the switch, you won't regret it
This is for sure a 5* review. I have long (very long) wavy hair. My hair is virgin hair (never dyed in case you aren't familiar with the lingo) and I only have a sprinkle of grey throughout even though I'm definitely old enough for lots of grey. I sleep with my hair wet, and only flat iron bangs (and roots, if needed). Basically, I have very healthy hair. Because eof its length (and how dry the air can be in Canada in winter) I always go for a colour treated or dry/damaged formula because I want the extra weight conditioner. I LIKE soft, wavy hair and I detest wearing hair product. Switching to the shampoo/conditioner bars has been delightful. The shampoo bar makes it easy to target just my roots as I rub the edges of the bar along in stripes on my scalp before massaging in to cleanse. (Shampoo bar was the brown packaging - the defender, maybe? I've never really noticed the aroma much.)The conditioner bar, #1, smells like heaven (coconut/lime smell) and #2 leaves just the right amount of weight on my hair that I no longer have to slick along more leave-in conditioner/ argan oil to weigh it down and prevent fly aways. I started out using a lot more of the conditioner then the recommended number of swipes. I have a lot of thick hair, so for me this was a non-issue. For someone with a more reasonable amount of hair - take it easy! I'm now down to about 4 long passes of my shaft-root of the bar. I'll finger detangle and them let it sit on my hair while I continue my shower.Again 5*, I'm impressed. I'd like it to be more reasonably cost effective to purchase here, but I think I'll be able to find a work around. The same smell is available as a body moisturizer bar and I'd like to get my hands on it!

Feels Good to go Plastic-Free!
I searched for a long time to find a plastic-free conditioner bar that I thought would work for my hair. After trying the Sampler Pack fro Ethique, I purchased the Wonderbar because I loved it so much. While using the bar in the shower, it feels like it isn't really working. I use it on my hair when it's dripping wet, and run the bar all over my hair from the roots to the tips. I then leave it on for a minute or two before rinsing it off. At that point, I can run my fingers through it and feel that the conditioner is working. It leaves my hair soft and shiny, and I find that I can go longer between washes then I can using bottled shampoo, even sulfate-free brands!Being in Canada, my one complaint and reason why I probably won't keep buying this brand is that it is shipped from New Zealand. I wish it was made locally because I love it so much!

Works Great
I was skeptical that this would work on my long, dry, coarse hair because most conditioners are not moisturising enough. Especially when I saw how small this was, I was shocked. it is TINY. But I've been using it every second or third day for a few months and it still shows almost no signs of use. I just rub it onto my head from the ears down, and my hair is super manageable, soft and shiny.Update: I have repurchased this again and can confirm that it lasts 4-5 months of near daily use. It is much more moisturising than bottled conditioner, smells amazing, and travels well. I will never buy anything else again.

Better than any other conditionner ive bought
I have thin hair that tangles alot and gets frizzy. I have the type of hair where strong conditionners cause fallout and too mild conditionners just don't do enough. This bar however is amazing. I've been using Lush products but their shampoo bars are either too drying or too oily/waxy, and their conditionners not strong enough. I've used this for about 4 washes and it feels fantastic. Has a very light lime smell that I enjoy and that disappears when the hair is dry. It controls static and frizz and allows me to brush through my hair. Just make sure to take it out of the shower once you're done so it can dry and last longer. Will definitely re purchase ! (Side note,I've been using a microfiber hair towel as well, so that might also be helping with the frizz)

Love this brand.
I’ve switched several of my hygiene and beauty products to bars and this brand has my heart for everything. This is the second batch I’m getting of conditioner + shampoo bars and I love it. My hair looks as good as when using professional saloon grade shampoos. This brand has an awesome mission and values, a percentage of all their profits is destined to NGO dedicated to environmental cause.I would just hope Amazon stop packing the boxes with useless air filled plastics, so I’d recommend to buy it directly from their website.
