Meh. Could be much better.
I really wanted to like this item because I’m a gadget lover. But, alas, it falls short in many ways. Yes it does charge my Apple Pencil, but it really isn’t easy to use. I find it awkward because it’s hard to plug the case in and charge it up. It was very difficult to figure out how to use it in the first place. It comes with two charging thingys and yet there is only space to store one of them. And you have to unplug your iPhone charger to charge this charger, which is weird too. Then there’s the case itself, which will hold the Apple Pencil, a spare tip and the adapter. But when I want to get them out, I have to fight the case to remove them. Somehow the little things, like the pencil cap, and charger are almost impossible to get out of the case unless I use something to pry them out, or tip the case over into my hand! The lid doesn’t feel secure either. There is no way I would carry this case some place with me, it’s just too difficult. It’s ok on a desk top, but then again, everything doesn’t fit in it, I always have the extra adapter thingy that has no place to go. So, it does charge my Apple Pencil, but I still can only charge both my iPad and Pencil together if the case is already charged. So, yeah. I probably wouldn’t recommend this item.

A useful charging case with some issues
This case is a decent improvement over the factory Apple Pencil packaging. There are storage slots for the Apple Pencil, cap, adaptor, an extra nib, and one (short) charging cable. The case takes couple hours to fully charge with an iPad power converter. The included charging cable’s short length can make finding a suitable power outlet difficult (See photo), but when charging a nice 4-LED gauge illuminates to indicate the charge level.Once the case is charged it seems to have enough juice for at least 3 pencil charges, though I haven’t tested this. Again, the short adapter cable makes for an awkward pencil position while charging (See photo), not a deal-breaker, but something to note. The plastic constituting the inner tray is of notably low quality. The pencil slot is well designed, and removing it from the case is easy. The other slots, however, have very tight tolerances, making it nearly impossible to remove the cap or adapter without turning the case over and dumping the contents. A poor design [-1 star]The outer lid has a nice rubberized matte finish, and a soft inner lining. It fits the case well with a slight click when closed. Cons: The lid magnet is VERY weak, and can not handle the weight of the lid when the case is inverted. My solution is to use a thick rubber band to hold the lid firmly in place while stowed away in my back pack. (See photo) [-1 star]Overall this case is definitely useful for storage, protection, and charging while traveling, but it falls short with poor ergonomics, a weakly magnetized lid, and poor material quality.Full disclosure: I was reimbursed for this purchase in exchange for an honest product review. To the vendor: I wish I could rate this case higher, but there are critical design issues that need to be addressed. I’d be happy to review an improved model and update my rating accordingly.

Mine came with a lightening cable and port for re-charging!
Unlike the description and some of the frustrated reviews here, the unit I just received has the included cable as USB to Lightening with does double duty for recharging the box, and fitting into the pencil charging adapter. Apparently they have changed the recharge port to lightning to solve the frustration of two cables. The only other initial impression I have which caused me to give a 4 star so far is that the sections to store the extra tip, lightening adapter and cap do not hold those items tightly, so they can easily fall out. I personally have solved that with a tiny ball of museum putty so those items stick in place.I will add more to this review as I put the box into use during my travels, but wanted to submit a review addressing the change in charging port and cable included now.

Not a good choice so far
I thought this was so cool, a very self contained way to carry and charge my Apple Pencil... Till I realized, and they did tell us this in the product description, that you still need to have a lightening cable with you. The little cable in the case is in order to charge the battery in the case so that it can charge the pencil. It is a micro USB. So, you either need a lightening cable with you, or you need a micro-usb / lightening adapter. It also charges pretty slowly. I have two cases for my iPad pro, one a traditional slim case with a pencil holder on the side and one with a keyboard that essentially turns the iPad pro into a laptop. I got this case for when I am using the latter. I charged the pencil tonight and we started at 30% and at 84% the case battery gave out (I had fully charged it); so much for charging the pencil several times. I will recharge the case and give it another chance before deciding whether to return it. Meantime I did order an adapter...which will NOT fit neatly into the case. MONTHS LATER. I have never used this case.

The Idea is Good
First I'd like the say that the concept is Good! Carrying around the Apple Pencil can be stressful. You're always worried about losing it, well some are, may not be you. Let's face it the pencil is not cheap. So when I saw this product I was like cool, I'll give it a shot. What I like:1. Having Most of My Apple Pencil attachments in one location2. The ability to charge the pencil without plugging it into my iPad Pro3. It's light and attractive4. Charging Indicator Lights5. It WorksWhat I don't like1. Included Charging cable is extremely short2. Was I suppose to receive a short lightning Cable to?Overall I feel that you will still be happy with this device. At the end of the day it does what it's suppose to and that is it provides a way to safely carry your Apple Pencil and it provides an additional way of charging it.
