Edit on top: after a terrible experience with one set (below) the seller sent us a replacement set that work perfectly, excellent customer support and quick fix of our issue. We just got a bad set apparently. We ordered two of these with great hope but that hope was dashed immediately. Installation was pretty simple but that's where the joy ended. Upon trying them out for the first time the blinds bound up and wouldn't drop to the bottom of the track. The strings were coming out of the side and it wouldn't go down all the way. I pulled it back off only to see the strings were twisted up. I pulled the second one out of the box and those strings were not twisted, cool, bad manufacturing. I installed the second set only to have the exact same issue. The blinds get bound up and won't go to the bottom no matter how slowly or carefully you actuated the side tabs. The string comes out of the side of the unit when it binds up. These are absolutely terrible, way too expensive for something that is so cheaply made. Update: the seller is sending us replacements to see if we just got unlucky and got a bad set. Will update when we receive them.

I asked the builder of my new home (as a builder of a new subdivision he is willing to make some adjustments to his stock plans, but not all you might like) to provide front door sidelights with integral interior blinds (we had replacement sidelights with integral blinds installed on our last house at a cost of $700). Unfortunately the builder, who has a warehouse of front door units with sidelights, would not install another unit. So, rather than pay to have the brand new sidelights ripped out and replaced with ones with integral blinds, we decided to try these. They fit over the existing sidelight moldings perfectly and work O.K. Their construction is a little flimsy and packaging insufficient to properly protect the units during shipment. Packing tape came loose on both boxes and parts which worked loose on these units were poking out of the box. Luckily, we did not lose any pieces. The construction of the units leaves something to be desired, with the tilt and raising/ lowering mechanisms not constructed well. The mechanisms had come apart during shipment and I had a heck of a time getting them reassembled. I got the units put together and installed. They look great - almost like an original part of the door assembly. But we are very careful to be VERY gentle when using the tilt mechanisms ( we don't use the raising/lowering function for fear of getting the blind stuck in some awkward position) so as not to have the thing come apart as it did during shipment. All-in-all we're pleased with the units, at about a third of the cost of having replacement sidelights installed. We just wish the operating mechanisms were sturdier.

I recommend to call ODL first to determine which product you need. Looking just at websites is confusing. I called and was given the model number. I was able to shop around and find the best price and delivery method. It took about 30 minutes to install without rushing to get the job done. My husband told me that if I wrote a review of this product to make sure it was a good one. He loved how easy these were to install. They gave us the privacy we needed and look professionally installed. I was very impressed with the price after doing a search for similar products. Highly recommend!

Initially, I couldn't install it myself, so I called someone and paid an extra $65 for installation. When I try to open it, it gets stuck halfway, and when I try to close it, it doesn't close completely. Even when it does close, it doesn't lock from the inside. I'm so disappointed about the $170 I spent on it, plus the installation fee from an outside person, bringing the total to $235 for. I need help without returning the product because it has been opened and used.

Easy installation. Blinds work well. A little pricey but they look good.

These enclosed blinds were easy to install and fit my sidelites properly. But I am not impressed with the quality of the blinds themselves. The slats are slightly crooked (not perfectly horizontal), and raising or lowering the blinds does not work well. They get hung up and it's sometimes hard to get them all the way down. We just leave them lowered all the time as a result. The blinds and their mechanism are just flimsy. The product is okay but not $300 (for two) good.
