Performs as described
We got this for our 1UP bike rack when we attach the rack to the back of our Jeep Wrangler. Due to the design of the bike rack, even if the bikes are removed, we still couldn’t open the swinging back door. So we end up leaving the bikes behind on some trips. This is the first trip with the swing arm and so far it is working great. Very heavy duty construction and its holding up fine so far.

Well built
Very strong, opens far enough to clear my full size dodge ram charger with bike rack installed.

Highly Recommend for Vehicles with Liftgates
I waited too long to buy this. It is heavy-duty and makes hauling bicycles so much more convenient. I don’t have to remove them and the rack now when I need to get into the back of the car. It swings effortlessly out of the way. The hitch lock is a threaded bolt, which can be inconvenient when installing or removing, but it allows the arm to be securely and firmly attached so that it is quiet and stable.

Awesome, best on the market but...... read on.....
A little over priced, but there really isn’t anything better like this on the market. This is really the best on the market. Sadly it could still use some changes. The bolt pin you put through on your hitch receiver mount uses a special locking screw in bolt. While this is nice and keep the mount from being “jiggly” this bolt type lock won’t work with all hitch receiver mounts. HOWEVER with that being said, with a little adjustment, a piece can be easily removed with a little effort, and a regular locking hitch bolt can be used. Which I have done to work with my hitch mount on my vehicles. The other improvement needed, is it needs a way to lock with a key closed. While there are two locks to keep the thing closed and to keep it safe from opening going down the road. When stopped, anyone could come along and open it up, or even undo the locks just slightly, so once your going down the road it could swing open and cause an accident. Which means you need to check it before you drive to make sure someone isn’t playing a prank. Or use a cable lock to lock it closed. Which what I did, but now it creates a hassle to open and use when I need it. I am looking for a better alternative to prevent someone from undoing the locks as a prank.Other than that, like I said their isn’t a better quality mount like this anywhere. So price reflects supply and demand rules, not what it actually cost to make plus a fair profit. That’s why I said overpriced.

Doesnt hold the weight it claims
The YAKIMA BackSwing hitch is an absolute disaster waiting to happen. Despite boasting a weight capacity of 250 pounds, this hitch attachment couldn't handle even half that weight without collapsing under the strain. I made the mistake of trusting its claims and loaded close to 200 pounds onto it, only to watch in horror as the hinge started to bend under the pressure.Attempting to swing the hitch out to access the gear proved to be a costly mistake. The weight combined with the flimsy construction caused the hinge to bend and warp, rendering it virtually unusable. Now, instead of enjoying the convenience of easy access to my gear, I'm stuck lifting and maneuvering the bent hitch every time I need to lock it back into place. It's infuriating to invest in a product that not only fails to deliver on its promises but also poses a serious safety hazard. I expected more from Yakima considering they are one of the best in the business.

Great item
Worked absolutely perfect for me, mine is mounted on the back of a transit van and the doors swing open, and the bikes have to clear so with the bikes, arranged one way they can’t open all the way, but a bungee fixed that problem easily.

Well designed
This backswing hitch appears very well designed and built. It is used on a Chevy Silverado with a pickup camper. I attached a Saris 4-bike bicycle rack to the swing out. Once all the attachment bolts are tightened the whole assembly appears stout, and very firmly mounted in place. That is, the only movement of the entire assembly is the swing out hinge. Very nice!
