I've only warn these boots for a few hours now and I'm impressed. I bought these because they have the same look as the RedWing Iron Rangers and I was not ready to spend over $300 for them. First impression is really good. The color is a little darker than the picture which I did not think was an issue, I figured as they get worn and polished they would darken up anyways. They are comfortable surprisingly, since they are not broken in yet, feel real sturdy and plenty of support. Sole so far has plenty of grip even as being very low profile, and the laces feel pretty strong. I will be using this primarily as a office dress boot with some light around the yard work to continue to break them in. Took me a while to find a boot with this look and price and I'm very pleased with them.

Even with a little glitch this is a great boot
This should be a five-star boot and normally is the fit is spot on usually and that's for every pair I bought BUT this is the first pair I bought and maybe because it's an older stock it's unlined and I actually had to break them in the same quality but normally they come feeling like they are broken in already I'm sure because of the lining throughout the inside of the boot.. so loosely laced it took a week to break them in so they are comfortable enough to wear.. obviously they'll get better as I wear them more.. other than that still a great boot for the price

Iron Ranger Alternatives
Looking for Iron Rangers but balking at the price? Look no further. These boots are a reasonable alternative, with Commando outsoles, and supportive insoles for all-day comfort. Double cap-toe stitch, but no contrast stitching. Don't know how they would hold up in a heavy-duty outdoor work environment (I think well), but let's face it, most of us are looking for a pair of these as a versatile casual work/casual evening option. They might also be able to be dressed up with a jacket and tie as well. Eastland has another cap-toe boot, the Hi-Fidelity, but I think these pay more homage to Iron Rangers if that's the look you're after.

Seems to run Big
Loved the look and quality of the boot, but they just felt way too big. I usually wear a 10.5 in all shoes and this felt like it was at least an 11.5, if not bigger.

More of a chocolate than a dark brown. Slightly larger than expected but probably not enough to size down, unless you're planning to wear thin cotton socks. Didn't love the look in person but thought the quality was good.

and build are great though!
These boots are in no way slip resistant. Do not buy them with this in mind- you will slide to the moon and back The look, material, and build are great though!

Meh
Alright material. A decent alternative to Redwings however my only problem is the sole. It attracts so much dust and dirt like lint to wool.

Good boots, wear them everyday.
Tough boots, wear them everyday, very durable. Will consider buying another pair in the future. A little uncomfortable at first, but continue wearing them and they'll soon adjust to your feet. Great buy!

Overall a disappointing Iron Ranger substitute.
Ordered Nov 27, 2019So as you can see in the photo, the right boot is the iron ranger, the left boot is the Eastland Jayce cap toe boot. Is it an Iron Ranger? No. But is it a good second place. I picked up a pair for 140$, and I have no regrets. If you are comparing to the Iron Rangers, you should know the Eastlands are way lighter. The leather is not as thick and I think there's less of it, the outsole is a lighter material, the insole and footbed are fabric and synthetic. These aren't necessarily detractors, but it will definitely impact the longevity of the boots. The stitch of the leather is lighter, and the outsole is definitely not a Goodyear welt. You will, however, be thankful after a long day of wearing them. And the break in time was maybe a week a most, short compared to the Iron Rangers, which took a month of solid wear and much mink oil before they were comfortable. The outsole looks to be a nice grippy rubber, which hasn't changed character even in -30c last week. And the boots haven't let any water in yet. That's a bonus.A couple things though, Eastland. Why are you gluing the insoles into the boots? Do you really think they're that great? Because they are not. They are ok but doomed to fail. And the finger loop in the back. Why bother putting a finger loop that's too small for fingers to loop into? And too short to provide help in pulling your boots on to your feet? That's nonsense. Why even bother. And the boots need decent laces. Mine are done after just a couple months. Done. I'll replace them with a pair from Redwings from Get Outside for 7 bucks. But why cheap out on the laces? That's disappointing.Update February 10 2020So the leather is holding up, but the cotton lining in the toe and around the heel has torn in both boots, and the plastic used to maintain shape behind the heel has cracked and is quickly falling apart.Update July 18 2020So a little over 6 months in, and these boots are on their last legs. Honestly, for the money I'd hoped I'd get a year out of these. The plastic support material has crumbled and the liner torn heal and toe. Turns out, the insole is glued in because it looks like the steel shank has been riveted and glued to it instead of the footbed. The footbed is made of cardboard and has fallen apart. Disappointed.

A bit of an off fit.
Nicely put together upper. Not stitched to sole. Ordered my regular size but they run slightly too large in all directions...box, length and width. The memory insoles are nice-ish but the extra room makes the foot slip around. A good looking boot but may require a try on to make sure it fits like you want.

Ok
Nice leather uppers that takes no “break in” period. Comfortable from the start but soles are very soft so could wear out easily. Too bad the boot isn’t lined, but for the price....not bad. Fits a little large but not enough to go down a size.
