We bought this with fairly low expectations, having heard and read what some reviewers thought of it, but we really enjoyed it. It is a very clever interweaving of prequel and sequel which has some skilfully crafted moments of overlap between the two. Most of the songs are performed well, enjoable to watch and are right for the point of the story they are linked to. The only exception is the pointless and somewhat boring inclusion of Cher (and I like Cher). Listen out for the background music where you get some very deft remixed blends of songs from the first film and other ABBA songs. The climax of the film is wonderfully touching and had both my wife and I misty eyed - well, being a man, I pretended my hayfever bad wihile she blubbed hopelessly.

Some say MM2 has lesser known songs. For this ABBA fan it is wonderful to hear these lesser known tracks. OK, the new lyrics are throwing me a bit. I keep singing the original MY LOVE MY LIFE and I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU. Considering I love METAL, these are 2 of the most wonderful love songs ever! Some say poor acting. Walters is classic genius. She says so much with just her facial expressions. And Streep... (for me), the BEST ACTRESS... EVER! MM2, take it for what it is... fun, colourful, musical... and yes, camp! The story is good. Perhaps it isn't made clear that Bill's Great Aunt Sophia, is the mother of the owner of the tavern. But the commentaries help with some issues. I remember being thrown in MM1 when Pierce came down the Lloyds building (I recognised it) and out into a New York street. My only disappointment is Disc 2, the bonus disc. It is only 20 minutes long... WHY? A waste of materials in this eco age. So much could have been included. What you get is a bit of chat about individual songs used in MM2. ABBA were my first musical love way back from 1976. It loved some their guitar riffs. This led me on to METAL. For years I was shy about my love of ABBA, but I am proud to say I love them!!

I brought this for my daughter, she liked watching clips on YouTube. It's a fun family movie, that I am happy for my 5 year old to watch. It's not as good as the first movie, but if you are a fan of the first movie, or even an ABBA fan this is a must see, to understand the background story. Personally, Meryl Streep acting talents is under used, and Cher looks an odd choice even for a glamorous Granda considering the age gap to Meryl Streep, but I'd still happily watch it again.

Love the Mama Mia movie and the sequel is very well done. Need to remember various props and dialogue from the first movie, because the sequel integrates numerous of these elements quite well, making it very enjoyable.

I thought this movie would not play in my blu ray, according to the reviews, but it does. And i love this movie. I have the first movie so i wanted to own the sequel. And i absolutely love the ABBA songs!
