Is it possible not to use the bottom wire piece that goes above the bottom tray so my bird can just walk on the tray instead of wire?

Absolutely! I have removed it from my cage and made life easier for me and my bird. The wire piece is there so the bird does not have to walk in it's own excrement, however, if you change the paper on the bottom of the cage frequently, that is not a concern. My bird rarely walks on the cage bottom although I have tried to encourage the walking by placing toys on the paper. She simply prefers to stay on her perches and avoids the floor.

Can this cage be hung by its handle?

I was not as cautious as the two other reviewers. I did hang it by the handle. I had no issues. (It never fell.) I only stopped using this cage as I got more birds and required a bigger cage.

I can’t get the top to go on properly and the roof has a gap did anyone else have this problem?

Depends on how big the gap is. The only problem I had was a bent bar but I fixed it myself. If yours is unfixable you should return it.

Does this come shipped in a brown box or in a box that gives away what it is?

My box was send in a white box I don’t remember if it had the picture of the cage I hope this help you some
