Can't handle contact with hydrogen peroxide cleaners
Was easy to install around existing fixture and, on quick inspection, looks like metal. Warning, however, this plastic does not tolerate contact with bathroom cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide. It will turn the "chrome" plastic completely white requiring replacement.

Exact fit. Easy to install. Looks great.
Used three of these as replacement escutcheons on a toilet cold water supply line (from the floor), and hot and cold water sink supply lines (from the wall). All 1/2" copper. Some reviewers say they are flimsy and cheaply made. I guess maybe you could say that? But it's not like they're DOING anything except sitting there hiding a hole and being decorative! There are no moving parts to break, and they are certainly NOT going to rust like the originals. And, in my opinion, they look a heck of a lot better than the metal, hinged, split-flange type of escutcheon. The key is to split the plastic ring from the back with a utility knife. There's already a groove there for it. Can't see how one would attempt to separate the ring by hand, as others have tried. I did not put tape on the chromed face prior to installation, and I didn't have any problem with the finish coming off or scratching. My only beef is the price! $7.00 each at the time of this review. For a no-moving-parts piece of plastic! But the options out there are very limited, so what are you gonna do!?

Easy installation and looks great
The original covers were metal and had developed some pitting and rusting over the years. My wife wanted them replaced.I had my doubts about these, but was very happy with the way they looked after installation.Getting the old ones off was the hard part.Wife is happy and so am I.

Very Easy to Use
I bought this to replace an escutcheon in my bathroom for the commode pipe. I have a steel pipe, but this CTS half-inch fit perfectly. It felt flimsy, but looks really nice after installation. It took me 25 seconds to install this on my piping. (The prior escutcheon was cut off with metal scissors.) I question how long it may last because it is plastic, but it will take less than a minute to change out. I would definitely buy again. My biggest issue is the price because it seems fairly overpriced. However, I cannot find this in any store, so this is the best option.

When you need it, you need it. Even if it is overpriced.
This was needed when I had to perform an in-wall plumbing repair that required removal of wall tile, necessitating cutting off the metal, one-piece escutcheon. Without removing the nipple or shutoff valve it isn't possible to put a new one on. Since I preferred to not risk creating a new leak, this split type is the perfect product.Easily installed, and looks pretty good (just make sure to position the "split" vertically, under the supply nipple). The only complaint is the price for a small, chromed piece of plastic. But, this is a case where you just "pay the man" and finish the job.

Expensive but worth it
This is an item that is an immense time and labor saver when a trim plate needs replacing. No need to shut down the entire apartment building to remove a shutoff valve to get to a rusty trim plate. It takes a little fussing around to slip on the pipe but that is nothing compared to the alternative.

It work fines, but you need to be careful.
This is exactly what I needed. We have a house near the ocean and the regular metal escutcheons always rust and look terrible. And to change them you need to shut off the water and take off pipe fittings. This is cheaply made, but it's plastic with a chrome coating so it should last forever once in place. You need to be careful when separating the plastic. If you turn it over and use a razor blade or utility knife to score the line where you separate the plastic so you can fit it over your pipe it separates easily. You can also cover it with electric masking tape so you don't scratch it when installing.

not big enough
These mostly did the intended job. I bought 2 to put on intact pipes. With a little bending I got them both on. I didn't heed the advice here to cover them with tape so both got a bit scuffed on installation. One I used to replace a removed cover, and I'll still need to touch up the paint around it (red wall in photo). The other I put in front of an existing rusted one, but it's not big enough to cover the edges (light blue wall in photo).
