High quality sound bag
I'm really happy with the quality and layout of this sound bag. A LOT of really great layout choices, and it is more sturdy than I imagined. I got this bag for my F8n Pro, and while it is technically a perfect fit... The bag is not specifically made for it, so you will have to pull the F8n Pro out of the bag to swap AAs. Not a huge deal unless you intend to really rely on AA batteries--which you shouldn't. I'm lucky to get 60 minutes on a fresh set of lithium ion rechargeables, so I only use those as a backup while I'm changing extension power sources. All of which are really accessed through the bottom zippered section of this bag.Anyway, that's not important. The things I LOVE about this bag is it feels like it will last FOREVER and protect my sound gear in even more extreme working conditions. The orange inside has an almost plush lining that gives your gear a bit of cushion, while the black outter fabric is made of strong, tight knit material that gives the bag solid and protective structure that provides a near hard shell layer of protection, while still having enough give to accommodate various cables and connectors as the job requires. It is also pretty compact compared to and bags I've used in the past with older field recorders--really, the recorders are more compact now too, so this is the right form factor for 8 channels. Perhaps if you are doing bigger studio gigs with more than 8 channels, you might want a bigger bag just to accommodate more space for receivers and extra gear, but this is the right size if you are lugging it on 12 hour days on the go for most commercial/documentary/small cast gigs.

Well thought out.
Makes the user experience for a Mix Pre much better. It is very expensive for the product itself, but nothing else comes close.

no back panel
let me start by saying i bought this bag for nature field recording, so that i could hike to recording locations and still protect my recorder while recording near waterfalls, rocky terrain, etc. sometimes it's a run and gun situation and sometimes its more premeditated, so that i can setup at a site.this bag is a great compromise and meets a lot of my needs while out in the field. it's lightweight enough to hike with, yet sturdy enough to protect my recorder in case it falls. it's well-constructed and fits the sound devices mixpre 6 perfectly. specifically it fits the 8-AA battery sled and there's a way to access and change out those batteries without having to remove the entire device from the bag. there's also an additional removable front pocket that can hold a powerbank like the anker.3 things i wish this bag had:- a removeable back panel. for $200+ this bag should be able to be entirely covered from the elements. i don't mind that there's no top fabric panel (there's only a plastic 'window'). but not having a removable fabric back cover is kind of mind-blowing. it would have been so easy to add on, which i will do on my own, but in this oversight there's an assumption that everyone is mounting their bag/recorder to a tripod and that's simply not true. a lot people store their recorder in their bag, leave the bag next to their mic setup, or what if it rains? then you have to make sure that you're covering the back of the device!- there should be two kickstands, why is there only one? for the safety of propping up your $1000+ recorder, it would make sense to have 2 kickstands. the single kickstand seems to work ok on a solid desk or table, but when you're using boulders and uneven terrain to prop up your device, a 2nd kickstand would have been great.-there should be a way to run the charging cable from the powerbank to the recording device. it would have been easy to have add a small hole that you could feed the charging cable through internally to the device, without being exposed to the elements. the way the mixpre 6 is designed you have a lot of side xlr cables. it would have been nice to keep the charging cable out of the way and keep it from getting jostled and possibly losing power.overall i would highly recommend this bag as there's no other bag i've used yet that comes close to function, design, and quality construction. if you're hiking and need some solid protection and a raincover, this definitely the bag.i've tried the orca bag, that one was way too heavy to hike with, though the entire case was enclosed, so no open back panel. i haven't tried the strut case yet, but i heard that one is bare bones for padding and uses a lot of velcro, which is kind of loud, depending on the environment you're recording in.

Better for full pro setup.
If you have a pro setup with bulky lectros, this will be good. But for me I only needed the MixPre 6 + battery pack & Rode Wireless Go, and for that this bag is too large and bulky. You can remove the front pocket to make it slimmer, but then the battery pack has nowhere to go (because it won’t fit under mixer). I found the Orca 270 to be a better fit for my needs. Also, this is overpriced for what it is, but the quality does seem to be good.
