Book 2 of The Cavanaugh Brothers is one HOT, HOT, story
Wow, Book 2 of this series is really good. This installment, Broken, is about James, the middle son, and he is an international famous Horse Whisperer. He has made Millions by the time he attends the funeral of his Father, which forces James and his brothers back to the Ranch in River Black, TX. James thought that his mother only blamed him for not watching after his little sister, Cass and therefore, her death. He found out that it was all three brothers that were blamed, with physical abuse, mental and emotional abuse at the hands of his Mother while their Father did nothing to protect them.Sheridan O’Neil was introduced in Book 1, Branded. She is Deacon Cavanaugh’s Executive Assistant in Dallas Texas. Sheridan has her own issues and decided that she did not want the same thing happen to her that happened to her mother. Sheridan’s father left her and her mother and Sheridan’s mother warned her to never give herself to a man and get hurt like she did. Sheridan has kept this fundamental rule and has not been hurt by anyone, especially men. However, she starts to realize that she is very lonely and not complete in her life living like this. The story continues from Book 1 with Mackenzie working on her wedding that is in just 3 weeks. Mackenzie asks Sheridan to be her Brides Maid and help her with the wedding plans. During this period, Sheridan opens up a remote office in River Black for Deacon and helps Mackenzie. This exposes Sheridan to James. James becomes enchanted with her. Of course there is the dance that takes place in a good romance book, and this is no exception.Even though the Book Description states that Sheridan is rescued from a horse stampede by James, she is actually rescued from a really bad man that attempts to kill her "twice". The second attempt James does rescue Sheridan and has mixed emotions that he failed again to protect her, just like he failed his sister. After the first attack on Sheridan, James takes her to his cottage on the Triple C Ranch in order to take care of her. Of course the sizzle between them heats up to the point that they both risk their hearts, for at least until they both go back to their previous lives. When Sheridan professes her love for James and he is unable to tell her how he feels, or say anything for that matter, she decides to go back to Dallas that night. The Hot Scenes are explosive and you won’t regret reading this second book in the series. You will want to find out if James goes after Sheridan or if he decides that they both are better off without each other.

This series has me hooked.
This series has me hooked. I cannot wait to find out what really happened to Cass!!! These are not stand alone books. They literally take place just days after the previous one and there is a huge story Arc started in the first book that is on going through the series. Each of the Cavanaugh brother’s gets a HEA with their woman at the end of their book but we are still left hanging about the dead sister and what really happened to her. Through the books we are given pages from her diary that gives us little clues about what might have happened to the 14 year old girl that was crushing on an older guy that she knew only as Sweet. The author has done a great job with the mystery and hooks you from the start and its torture just getting tiny clues here and there. Now for the romance part.. In this one the brother James Cavanaugh is the main hero who is known as the horse whisperer. All of the brothers feel a sense of guilt over their sister dying but James is carrying more from losing other women in his life also. He has a strong sense to protect women but yet wont let himself ever get close to another one again for fear he wont be able to save them. So when he realizes he has feelings for his brother Deacon’s admin he really struggles. Sheridan came off as very aloof in the first book. We finally get to see why she projects herself that way and that deep down she had just as many fears of letting anyone in as James did. I give 2 thumbs up to the author for allowing the woman this time be the one that pull the stick out of her butt first and stands up to James to do the same. The set up for the final book looks epic and I cannot wait for both Cole and Grace’s story AND to FINALLY get resolution on Cass.

Sexy and suspenseful!
Broken was the second book in the Cavanaugh Brothers series by Laura Wright.James Cavanaugh was the oldest Cavanaugh brother. He was known as the Horse Whisperer from his calm way with horses. Sheridan O’Neal was Deacon Cavanaugh’s (book one) assistant. She was proficient, organized and very formal - a city girl through and through. We met them both previously and the sparks flew immediately.Broken started exactly where book one, Branded, left off. The storyline was multi-faceted. The main focus was the friendship and relationship development between James and Sheridan but secondary plots centered around the previous death of James’ younger sister (Cass), local town drama and the dynamics between the Cavanaugh brothers.Broken was a fitting title. Both James and Sheridan were scarred from their past, although James had much more baggage to overcome. I liked both characters but they were a little cold. I would have liked more depth into their issues. The draw for me for the series - other than sexy cowboys - was the suspense. Wright revealed one tidbit of information regarding Cass’s death in each book but I craved more, which would add additional depth and complexity to the overall story. As a result, I rated it a 3.5, which rounds to a 4 on this rating site.Al in all, it was entertaining and Wright provided a teaser to lead into the next book. Cole Cavanaugh, Cass’s twin brother, is up next in Brash.

Another Brilliant Book in this series by author Laura Wright
This is the second book in the Cavanaugh Brothers series and Laura has done it again WOW another great book in this series. This book is centred around James and Sheridan.James is the second eldest Cavanaugh brother after leaving the Triple C ranch he has traveled the world working as a horse whisperer, but is drawn back to the ranch after his fathers death, determined to leave as soon as everything is settled he is unexpectedly made to stay when Mac arrives with a truck load of wild Mustangs and he knows he can't walk away before first making sure the horses are cared for.Meanwhile Sheridan O'Neil his brother Deacon's personal assistant arrives to help settle things for Deacon when her car breaks down at the side of the road and she is helped by a handsome cowboy on a horse.James feels drawn to Sheridan but because of past events is frightened to get involved he believes he is no good for any woman and thinks he would be better staying far away from her but things never go as planned and he soon finds himself in her company again.Sheridan is first and foremost a businesswoman she never allows her personal life to interfere with her business life she was brought up by a miserable mother who after her husband left her tried to instil in Sheridan that all men were the same and that she must concentrate on her career. But Sheridan is drawn to James in ways she has never experienced before. Will they be able to overcome their pasts to make a future together? Will they be able to knock down the walls they have both had to build to protect their hearts? Buy the book and find out you won't regret it.

Amazing
Broken is the second book in a new series by the talented Laura Wright. The first book introduced us to the Cavanaugh brothers and their troubled pasts on the family ranch. This second book of the series, Broken, lets us know James Cavanaugh, a sexy man who loves horses, but feels he is cursed in women and love. Sheridan has grown up listening to her mother's jaded feelings on love, and has no plans to become involved in a relationship with a man, as her career comes first. That is, until she meets her bosses brother, James, and the sparks fly.Emotional and thrilling, Broken keeps you hooked until the very last line. I cannot wait for the stories of the remaining brothers. While it would help you understand the characters more if you read Branded first, this book can be read standalone. Given how good this series is though, I can't recommend enough that you read both books.*Gifted copy provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*
