Fish Mate Automatic Pond and Aquarium Fish Feeder (P21)

We bought this to maintain our backyard fish pond when traveling. It took some thought & planning to adapt it securely to our surroundings but it works very well. Test your timing setup before you depend on it. After that you can relax and be sure your critters are being fed!

Works great for our small koi pond, we use 1 for morning and 1 for evening feeding.

I've lost two of these to my local raccoons now, after purchasing to feed our fish in our small trough-pond on the front porch while we go on vacation.The first time, I mounted the until to a plank - the 'coons pulled it off and it fell into the water.The second time, I mounted it to a plank -and- added extra screws so they couldn't pry it off. Nope - this time the ripped the front door and food spool off.Prior to raccoons destroying them, the units worked great. Best NOT to use flakes, though - micro-pellets seemed to work best.

I had explained the problems I was having with the feeder but was promptly told to bug off as the seller claimed that the time for returns/refunds was past. I challenged this statement and filed a dispute with Amazon, but apparently Amazon succumbed to the seller's contentions as I haven't heard anything new since my last email to Amazon. The reason it took more time to report the issues I was having was that the product was not put into service immediately, and when finally used I thought the problems might be due to the possibility of food pellets getting stuck in the timing gear of the feeder. I tried to use it again and again to see if there was really a problem with the feeder, or other factors. Obviously, the time for reporting the problem was impacted because I was trying to analyze why this device was not working properly. Instead of receiving help to understand what was going on, I was essentially told to go away. Incidentally, having owned three of these feeders, don't expect the device to last more than a couple of years before succumbing to the brutal beating by the elements. You can be assured that I will not purchase any more of these particular devices from this seller, and may not purchase such items through Amazon in the future due to the poor treatment I received.

My original purchase was received damaged. My recollection is that that package was damaged, and the feeder itself inside was therefore damaged. That could have happened anywhere in the assignment and delivery process. So, I am not immediately blaming the vendor.A replacement was sent, and sent quickly, which was in good condition.I had to go online for setup instructions. Which is a slight knock against the product. However, once I got all of it down, I was ready to use it.I purchased this to feed an Oscar, along with a silver dollar, two angels, and one gourami, in a 75 gallon tank. I use large cichlid sticks. The short version is, after setting the slide bar to the 17 opening size, it works like a champ. We were absent for 27 days, and our fish were all in perfect health when we returned. And there was still food in the hopper.Other than the lack of proper instructions, the only other drawback is that this has no method of attaching to the side of an aquarium. You cannot simply hang it over the edge of the lid. It won’t be stable. So, I had to construct a stand for it out of left-over lumber. The appearance of my stand is not professional. But, after affixing the mount attachment to an arm of the stand, I made it work.The current price is less than what I purchased it for. So, this product is definitely worth the price.

I may be returning this item because it is difficult to get it programmed and working so all the food does not dump out. It is very light weight and the winds up here blows it from it’s hanging spot. It is made of cheap plastic.

It works great ! I had this before but it broke getting thrown around in the wind!!!!
