Very pretty! Not as good as other products.
This product should get five stars for aesthetics. It’s really attractive on the countertop. However I’m not sure what to fill it with to be effective. I’ve tried apple cider vinegar but it doesn’t seem to do the trick. I’m going to try apple cider vinegar with dish soap to see if that helps make it sticky and then I’ll try sweet wine. If any of those become more effective I will change this rating from four stars to five. The little plastic pods that I bought before really worked well but they weren’t very attractive. I think it’s all about the solution not necessarily the contraption ....

I am still hopeful.
I like the color and the design of this fruit fly jar that traps the little pests, nicely made. It isn't working for me as yet. Had it for about a month now. I have to do more research, to find out if I am making the liquid you put inside is correct. I did use the apple cider vinegar with the mother, (not Bragg's) but I will try another brand to see if that one will draw them inside. Not going to give up as yet.

A classy way to rid your home of fruit flies!
Due to unfortunate circumstances, I wound up with a fruit fly infestation in my home. It was horrible. They were everywhere and I saw no way to get rid of them. I used this as well as sticky clear fly traps and was able to get rid of almost all of them.During the horrible infestation, I put about a half cup of apple cider vinegar, a couple drops of dish soap, and water into this product. When I checked later, it must have had over 100 fruit flies in it.This is a wonderful and discreet way to get rid of fruit flies in your home.

Seller was great, product has it's flaws.
Inside rim on the lid was warped when the clay was still wet so the lid would not sit down on the jar. The return process was so simple and the seller was great, they replaced the jar immediately. The new lid does close on the jar but is a bit off center (again due to warped wet clay.) It's not a bad product, it is attractive, but the lid seems to be a recurring flaw.

Decorative AND Effective!
I move this one back and forth between my home kitchen (where we are mid-summer harvesting a LOT of vegetables) and my office (where the trashcans are not emptied often enough for my liking). Effective and decorative, in both places. I add a little cider vinegar and a few drops of dish soap. You can't smell it - but the fruit flies and gnats can, and they cannot resist it! Traps and kills them - just change out the contents every week or every other week. Drastically reduces the number of flying pests!

Luck of the Draw
This ceramic item is beautiful, but the top does not fully close. I purchased this same item in another color (brown and blue glaze); however, the lid properly closes on that one. So I guess it's the luck of the draw.

Container does not work but apple cider and dish soap is a winner
I have been killing fruit flies with apple cider and dish soap for years. I recently updated my kitchen and wanted something more attractive then a cup of dead bugs on my counter. Day 1 I put my new fly catcher and mixture on the counter and after 24 hours not a single fly. I then soaked the spout the flies must fly through to access the golden juice…. 24 hours still nothing. I was determined to make this work. I then set up a little experiment in my garage with a slice of watermelon. Waited 24 hours. I had it set up on my dryer near a vent to the outside. There was literally a ton of fruit flies and my beautiful new fly catcher …. Did not catch a single fly. Finally I got a cup and poured the mixture from the new fly catcher into the a coffee cup and within 30 minutes all the flies were dead. The device is beautiful but the spout must be to small for the flies to access

Nice to look at compared with the plastic versions
I was using the ugly plastic fly traps. This actually looks good on the counter. I am ordering several more. Summer season is the worst for fruit flys in our area.Easy to clean, and does the job.
