Pro Plan Veterinary Diets Purina NF Kidney Function Advanced Care Feline Formula Dry Cat Food - 3.15 lb. Bag

A few months ago I noticed my 18 year old cat seemed a little disoriented and watched him. He looked dizzy then started to howl. I scoop him up and rush him to the animal ER. Turns out he has high blood pressure and advanced kidney disease. Tests reveal his kidneys were only working at 10%. He was in fatal condition. I was given a prescription for the blood pressure, informed about signs he was suffering(and needed to be euthanized) and what to do with his body should he "pass". I tried several brands of the wet food (needed to help him stay hydrated) but he wouldn't eat anything but this. It's only been 2 months and he is doing better, his kidney function is now at 25% which is survivable, and it all attributed to this(getting his bp down just keeps his kidneys from getting worse). This definitely improved his kidney function.

My cat ate this new food on the first try. However, after 2 days she got diarrhea and could not tolerate the new food.

Kitty doesn't like this. Is it really that hard to make a palatable cat food for kidney cats? Even the feral cats that stop by occasionally turn their little kitty noses up at this "stuff"!

My cat has kidney issues and he has to be seen at the vet constantly to rewrite the kidney diet food rx. Even so, he doesn’t like the brand that they have. Thankfully I looked on Amazon and found this food and decided to give it a try. It was a success! He loves it and it’s good for his kidneys!

Like many cats, ours are finicky eaters. They've been eating Purina's "Indoor" kibble for years, but when both developed kidney disease, we had to search for a more appropriate option. The one kibble variety they liked, was too large for one cat to eat (because of dental issues). We introduced the Pro Plan by gradually mixing it in with their old kibble. They weren't happy with the change, but seem to be getting used to it.

Most cats, like mine, will not eat prescription cat food. The vet recommended the Pro Plan diet for kidney function, which Calli needs. She actually likes it! I feel better knowing I’m giving her food that will help to keep her kidneys functioning with a low protein food.

Our cat was diagnosed with early kidney disease. We tried every kidney food we could find. He refused to eat them. So I took one more chance and ordered Purina Pro plan. He loves it. Also, Purina's urinary tract food was the only urinary tract food he will eat.

My vet approved me feeding this even though the vet doesn’t carry it and best of all, my 2 cats like the taste. I tried 3 other brands the cats wouldn’t eat.
