Vagabond: Definitive Edition 1: Volume 1

This may be the only manga that I have read yet with such detailed drawings. We all know what is the difference between western comics and mangas. The manga are hand-drawn and are to be published as soon as possible. So, so many times we see the characters in the manga are not that detailed. But here, Takehiko Inoue has done an incredible job. The paper quality is better than other VIZ manga volumes that we see. There are some color pages between chapters. Miyamoto Musashi has always been one of the most influential persons from the Japanese history. Now making a manga about the same character is something else altogether. Especially for a manga enthusiast like me. I wish it had an anime series. The delivery took some time.... around 15 days as it had to be imported and then delivered. Now the only thing concerns me regarding this is that I have to wait for another 15 days before I get the Volume 2 of this. Bookswagon did a very good job here. I wish they keep all such mangas like this available with them. We can get more mainstream mangas such as Naruto, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen etc everywhere now. Many sellers have them. But mangas such as Vagabond, 20th Century Boys are not available everywhere. And Bookswagon is doing a tremendous job there.

Truely a great purchase, feels legendary in hand and the cover looks traditional, and of course a masterpiece of a story experiencing for the first time.

Vagabond by Takehiko Inoue is a masterpiece in every sense of the word, not just in Manga, but in storytelling and production values in general. I rate it only behind Kentaro Miura's epic Dark Fantasy series Berserk and Fist of the North Star by Buronson and Hara in the history of Manga. Vagabond, set in the Sengoku era in Japan, is essentially an adaption of an adaption. Inoue's story is loosely based off the classic epic Mushashi by Eiji Yoshikawa, which is fictional account of the warrior philosopher Musashi Miyamoto. This 3in1 omnibus, and the series as a whole, deserves to be on your bookshelf. The characters are deep, while some could find Musashi's goal to be’ Invincible under the Sun’ as singular and base, I found it utterly fascinating and kept turning page after page even when my eyes were crying out for sleep! The story craft in Vagabond is great and the artwork is phenomenal, beautiful detail that comes alive off the page. The coloured sections are eloquent and stunning and I wish there was more to be had within. You can see, and feel, the history on the page before you as you will be truly absorbed in the events unfolding throughout as the Sengoku Era is brought to life like few others have achieved. I have always been huge fan of the Sengoku Era and Vagabond is arguably the best piece set in the era. Do yourself a favour and purchase this series. You will not be disappointed
