Reliable
Conté doesn't disappoint. Been using their pastel pencils since 1980(?). How many products in your studio are that reliable? Overall thickness of the pencil is much appreciated: I have large hands. Pigment saturation is unmatched. And thanks, Amazon, for delivering the goods without any broken "leads."

Impossible to sharpen
I have been wanting another set of these for years and I finally got mine several weeks ago. I used them a little and they worked wonderfully. However, they are impossible to sharpen without breaking. I have tried every way I know to sharpen these by hand and they break over and over again. I suspect that the box may have been mishandled. Total waste of money.UPDATE: I ordered the Conté brand sharpener made especially for these and still the pencils break before I can get enough tip on it to use it. I am pretty convinced that my pencils were mishandled and since I am beyond the return window I am out $50. Buyer beware.

Took a little time to get used to, buy fixative!
I had never tried pastels, remember using them in school making a mess! But these are so smooth, not messy when you apply fixative. I find it best to just go to town! Get out some paper try them! Thats what i did and i will say im an art supply snob! Very picky and hard to please, so impressing me with this one was easy!

Defective pencil
Upon the first time I used my new pencils, this one broke off at the tip. Tried sharpening it 3 times using 3 different methods and the shaft just cracked & the pencil kept breaking. No way to get this pencil replaced either by Amazon or trying to contact Conte directly. Very disappointed. :-(

Pigments are fantastic but quality of casing not so much around pencils.
Pigments are fantastic but many of my pencils have split and the entire color came out and you could not use the rest of it. I had to purchase a sievific metal sgariener because these are fatter than normal size pencils but they still split. Love the colors but disappointed in the quality of the sticks.

Bright and dependable color
Really a nice pencil, only problem is sharpening, but other than that I really enjoy the product. Will purchase again.

Nice tin full of a good colour combination
Gorgeous tin full of great Colour combinations. Being new to pastels I opted to buy these instead of the more expensive brands as I didn't want to pay a huge amount of money on something I might not use often enough to warrant a big spend. All the colours are beautiful and I use them for whimsical faces rather than watercolor. I used a good quality pastel paper as they don't do well on cheaper grade paper as they end up looking too grainy and don't blend well. overall they are a good quality and easy to get the hang of.

Great pastel pencils
I really love these pastel pencils. I wish id bought a larger set. The colours are bright and clear. I know the best way to sharpen pastel pencils is to use a blade, whether it be a safety razor blade, stanley knife, or pen knife, but being accident prone, ive managed quite well to use the largest hole in a double hole pencil sharpener. I have used these pencils for backgrounds in adult colouring books, and if blended with your finger very hard and well into the paper, i have found no need for the use of a fixative. They give a lovely soft effect. Just what i was looking for

Inaccurate photo for this 24 pencil set!!! Be warned
The first photo is what you see on the advert and unless you count the pencils in the photo, you dont realise that this is NOT the spectrum of colours you will get.pHOTO #2 IS WHAT ACTUALLY ARRIVED!!!iF YOUR GOING TO ADVERTISE a 24 pencil set, you should SHOW a 24 pencil set, not a misleading 48 pencil set!!!!

Best blending pastel pencils ever
If you love a soft blendable pastel these are your only choice. I've wanted these for years ever since borrowing a set from a friend at art school. Finally got round to buying a set and don't know why I waited so long. They are fab.

Great for finer detail in a pastel drawing!
Able to add finer details to a soft pastel drawing and as the pencils are also pastel, they are blendable too! The tin is a little loose and not sturdy so be careful if standing up on its side, otherwise great quality!
