Defective
Buyer beware, you cannot return this! I ordered 1 set of lights but was charged & received 2 of them. One set was fine, the other set has some black stuff in some of the letters. Not sure how else to describe it, just look at the picture. I was surprised that I couldn't just return it. I've never had this issue before. I've contacted the seller & hopefully they can resolve this & I will update my review.As for the good set - the string is pretty short so we arranged them on the table instead of hanging them. Also, if you hang them, you'll have to do something with the battery pack just dangling there. They light up nicely. The battery cover seems like it will break easily. I was worried I was going to break it when putting the batteries in/out. It's made it through 1 birthday & is stored in the box it came in, hopefully it will make it through a few more.

Very bright!
Purchased this for an outside night time birthday party. It’s actually pretty cool. It’s really bright and lights up the whole patio. Hard to capture the letters with just a camera phone. Have used it for multiple kids birthday parties now. Would purchase again.

Bright and pretty!
I love my happy birthday lights! I didn’t realize they were battery powered until they arrived so it’s really nice to be able to hang anywhere and not have to worry about being close to a plug in! The colors are bright and beautiful!

Huge disappointment
These lights do not illuminate the letters. A small white dot shows through each letter, but the letter does not show. I've had other light sets similar where the letter lights up entirely. I tried to return but since I had ordered them in advance for a birthday celebration the return window had expired...I should have plugged them in when received - my bad :(
