Yes it has one(1) set of filters to get you started, I'm not sure how much wine one set will filter since I haven't used my super jet yet. I made 55 gals and rack it 4 times, then I'm gonna filter it, so seeing that I racked 4 times, I'm confident one set will be fine. However, if you only rack your wine once, there is still going to be way to much sediment, an you will most likely need two sets of filters.Again, I'm only guessing but I feel I may be right. Q: Can this be used for filtering maple syrup?

Yes. Google “the Maple guys”. They are a small operation in New Hampshire. They have a video on YouTube of something called the MapleJet filter press. It’s basically this wine press modified for syrup. It’s the reason I bought this press and modified it.
