12 Pack CR1616 Battery, CR1616 3V Button Cell Lithium Battery with Solder Tabs for Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance Game Replacement

The 2032 are for SNES and N64 games, the 2025 are used for GameBoy and GameBoy Color games, and the CR1616 are used for some GameBoy Color and GameBoy Advance games. Most of these (with the exception of GameBoy Advance games), will be needed to even be able to save files again.They come in separate tiny plastic bags, so they are perfectly protected from each other.Please bear in mind that these require at least semi-professional installation in order to be useful. Other than that, these are the perfect fix for those old games.As an update, the CR1616 works fine for the GameBoy Color games that originally had this type of battery, but in order to install them in GameBoy Advance games, a little re-bending will be needed on the tiny metal ends on each battery.

I ordered these batteries to replace the batteries in GameBoy Advanced cartridges.These ones are a good price, a perfect fit, and the solder tabs are so convenient. I didn't even need to trim them to make them fit more easily.

As you can see from the photo, these batteries aren't even close to the correct size, they are way too small. Unfortunately, we didn't even check until after the return window had closed, so we are stuck with these useless batteries.*Update* The description for these has been updated and the seller very kindly refunded my money, so if these are the right batteries for your needs, definitely buy from this seller!

Let me start my review by saying that these batteries do work, and that they are the correct size to replace CR1616 batteries in Game Boy and Game Boy Advance cartridges. I replaced a save state battery in a Donkey Kong cartridge for the original Game Boy and the clock batteries in two Pokemon cartridges for the Game Boy Advance. All are working great now, as expected. If you do not care about them being the exact size as the original batteries, then these are a good buy.However, if you are expecting a perfect OEM replacement, these are not the same as the original batteries. While the battery size itself is correct, the attached terminal connectors that must be soldered to board are not the same size in either style of cartridge I replaced. For the Game Boy cartridge, the connectors are shorter in length than the original battery. This is not a huge deal, as the connectors still do make contact with the pads on the board, but they are not exactly the same size. For the Game Boy Advance Pokemon cartridges, this was more of a concern to me, because these replacements are both shorter in lengths as well as height. On the Pokemon boards, the batteries are positioned on top of a chip. Therefore, for these shorter replacements to work, I had to bend the connectors downward, as well as build up the pads with extra solder to give them some height before connecting the battery. In the end, it did work, and I am glad the clock in the cartridges are functional again, however it would have been preferable if the connector pieces were closer to the OEM batteries I was replacing.I have included photos to demonstrate the differences with the connections as mentioned in this review.

These have been great. Must of the ones I tested were 3.3v one was 3.1v, but still worked in the game. They fit in the games I replaced so far. Pokemon GBA did require bending the tabs a bit, but no big deal. Some of my GBC games take these and they fit perfectly. The batteries are in their own little baggies in a small plastic bin.

These batteries work great. I bought them specifically to replace the cell in my Pokémon Emerald game. Although, the contacts are a bit different then the battery that was previously installed. I managed to get them to work and solder great. If you are planning on getting these for your old games, you may need some soldering skills in order for it to work correctly. Overall, 5 stars.

Works great. Designed for a flush fit to the board like any regular Gameboy or Gameboy Color game. I, however, replaced the battery in a copy of Pokemon Ruby (Gameboy Advance) which has extended positive and negative tabs that allow the battery to sit over top a chip (see pictures). All I had to do was bend the tabs a little on the replacement battery and maybe use a tad bit more solder but it works great and looks great. No biggie.P.S. - There is only one correct way to replace a cartridge battery and that's to solder it. Please don't tape or glue new batteries to your Gameboy games...
