Here it is, the TRUTH...
I don't get overly excited about first aid and trauma kits because usually they forfeit quality and add a bunch of items you won't every really use. This kit is NOTHING like those kind of kits! To start with, the supplies and EDC bag are shipped separately and you are able to assemble and package the kit exactly as you like it, you have the choice to assemble it as you choose. This is a kit any Medic could take in the field and be confident in it. That is what's really important here. Not one item has been thrown in to bulk the kit up and there is nothing in this kit that you won't use. They don't fill it up with 400 band aids and useless gauze that will just collect dust. There is no doubt in my mind that military medical personnel were consulted before putting this kit together. It is thorough, productive and cost effective. Win, Win, Win.The bag itself is super tough and durable and has a ton of areas and stretch bands for easy access and availability. Double stitching all around. No shortcuts here. You would literally have to take out a seriously sharp knife to puncture this material, it is extremely tough. Here is the list of contents...QuickClot 1st Response 25g, 5"x9" ABD Pad, 3"x3" Gauze Pad (2 packs of 2 pads), QuickClot 4"x4" EMS Gauze Pad (or equivalent), 2"x 4.5yd Rolled Gauze, 7.5" Trauma Shears, CPR Mask, Black Buckle Tourniquet, Vaseline Gauze Pad, Israeli Pressure Bandage (4"), Black Nitrile Gloves (2 pairs), Alcohol Swabs (4), Iodine Wipes (4), 2"x 4.5yd Black Self-Adherent Gauze Roll, Hyfin Vent Chest Seal. Measures 8"(H) x 6.5"(W) x 3"(D)As you can see, this is a great kit that will serve all your needs in a trauma or severe bleeding situation. It gives you some room to add a couple triangular bandages as well or whatever you feel serves you best.I couldn't be happier and believe strongly that you will be as well. It is a great package and at this price point I believe it to be a great deal.

Lighting X Gunshot Trauma/Hemorrhage Control
Some of the items in this kit were unusable for me. For example, the tourniquet supplied was sub standard, so I substituted a C.A.T. 7, and mounted it on the side. Next, I substituted Celox for the Quik Clot, since Celox is made with natural material unlike the Quik Clot granules that need to be picked out of a wound before suturing. I also replaced the cheesy zipper pulls because I wanted a more secure way to quickly open the pouch. I eliminated a roll of gauze, and substituted an Israeli battle dressing. Then, I purchased a twin pack of Hyfin chest seals, because only one was provided. My thinking was, "What if the victim receives a 'through-and-through' bullet wound; what would I do with the exit wound?' Finally, I added an oropharyngeal airway tube. Although I paid $69.00 for the original kit, I've probably got close to $140 worth of supplies in my kit. I think I've got a very useful blowout kit, now. I'm not sure a more expensive kit would have served me because every individual needs to customize his or her kit to suit their particular situation.

Great bag, bad kit choice; tourniquet breaks.
Do not purchase this product if you are expecting to need anything more than the gauze and a bit of resupply. On first glance, it was obvious the tourniquet was not only non-spec, it would break on first test. I tested it and it got to about half tension before it released. As others have said, get something rated mil-7. Photo shows the included tourniquet (broken), and a SOF mil-7, tested.Only one Hyfin patch; you need a minimum of two to be prepped for a gunshot wound. Single clotting sponge, insufficient. Two actual Israeli bandages at a minimum; I’m not sure what the thing in the package was, but it broke and tried to stab me in the leg.So, if you know your stuff it’s good for bits and pieces and the bag is quite well made. But I think you’d be better off buying the bag itself (again, the bag itself is good!), an actual hyfin entry/exit pack, a multi-pack of Israeli bandages, and a large REI first aid kit.So... Could it help with a gunshot wound? A little. But I think in most cases, not enough - primarily due to poor materials in the kit. Swap them, know them forwards and backwards, and you’re in a better spot.

Five stars aside from the tourniquet
This is a great kit except for the tourniquet. Throw it away and get something else, I got a cat-t and a chest seal to fit inside the pouch. Five stars aside from the tourniquet.

I paid for a pre-assembled kit, I got a box of unpacked medical supplies and a neat-o case
All of the contents were literally thrown in the box. Kit was not put together when ordered, it took me almost 30 minutes to figure out how to pack everything. As far as giftable, if you're used to assembling gifts before giving them, sure. Or maybe if you'd like to just give out a box of individually wrapped random medical supplies and a carrying case as a gift, sure. If you want to look like you put thought and effort into it, look elsewhere. Amazon asked me if it was a value for my money. Well, I could have ordered all of the pieces separately, and still would have had to put together the kit, so... No? The picture shows a pre-assembled medical kit, and no where is it stated that I'd have to shove all of the goodies in myself. A better value for my money would have been ordering a slightly more expensive kit, just for convenience. As far as value for money, I'd have to really look into that, as this kit seems to be just as expensive as if I were to source all of the materials together.

Too small - Not enough room for sufficient dressings
Too small to be very useful for more than one wound. Some of the contents were good, but the tourniquet and a roll of gauze was the size I would expect for dressing a wound on a doll. The shears were good. I ended up buying a small backpack and transferred the usable contents from it, then filling it with enough dressings to be useful. The pouch may be a good size to keep a small first aid kit in, but not a field dressing kit. If you are looking for a gunshot wound kit, you really need more room for a good amount of dressings, since that is what you would use mostly. This bag is too small for that.

Not what I expected.
Overpriced for what you get.To many items not needed. For the higher price I expected much more and better quality items. The loop fasteners extremely tight which made fastening most items vertically impossible.
