Replacement tester.
Item is a replacement . Seams to do the job and wasn’t that expensive for two of them.

Broken battery terminal.
These are an inexpensive item and that is apparent when inspected . One of the pens has a broken battery terminal and has detached from the circuit board rendering it unusable
