Got this to go with a Studio 5x0 system (1 520C, 2 530's, 2 580's, 2 590's, and a 550P). This has a highly polished black finish that looks good. Powerful Sub with good response and goes with the other speakers nicely as far as filling out the overall sound. JBL has done very well with these speakers!

Voice coil crackles!
Unfortunately, being as big of a fan of JBL as I am, I have to give this sub a single star or less. I purchased 2 of these to complete my living room audio system which is used for both movies and music. However these do perform well under low end tight bass frequencies they unfortunately crackle at punchy frequencies near the 150HZ spectrum. Sounds like a failing voice coil or something simply rattling inside the cabinet/speaker. Not to be too negative, it is a hassle to return a product like this. Not sure if the issue falls on JBL or shipping/handling but this product is simply not acceptable. Amazon has issued a full RGA.

Jbl is ok speaker !
If you want highend subwoofer,go Svs....Took apart this jbl to see how big the magnet is? Its not even huge,Svs has better subs than these rip off of a sub... I highly recommend Svs over Jbl.

Monster bass and a looker
First of all, this is a gorgeous subwoofer. My old Polk 12" sub was a massive dark wood box. The JBL has a shiny black finish on top and there are some nice touches on the front grill like the JBL logo. The problem with having a huge subwoofer at home is just that. They are big and this one is no exception. Build quality is exceptional and at over 35 lbs it's not going anywhere no matter how loud you crank it.Thank you, JBL for including carpet spikes! This replaced my Polk PSW505 which is a classic, just check out the nearly 1K reviews and you'll see that for the money, the Polk has terrific value. The JBL 260P looks like it's not quite as thick as the Polk but it still looks like an end table. As far as bass goes, this one offers incredibly tight bass response. Watching a movie like The Dark Knight, or Man of Steel really makes this speaker shine. Sounds clip perfectly and I don't feel the overwhelming bass rumble that permeated the house with the Polk. Instead, bass is delivered with authority. The one downside to this sub is the price. $599 is a lot to pay for a single speaker but like any quality audio component you get what you pay for.Setup was a breeze thanks to clear instructions. I did run into an issue where I put the sub on auto detect and it did not work the first time I fired up my receiver. I switched it to ON and then back to auto. It has not exhibited this behavior since. I'm not sure why it didn't detect the signal the first time. The subwoofer was well packed - a box within another box - and arrived without any damage. If you want your home theater system to sound like a movie theater, and scare the neighbors, you could do a lot worse that this subwoofer.

Great sub that won't let you down.
There is very few reviews about JBL subs, anywhere for home use, but I have used JBL in bands for over 20 years and that is why I picked this sub for my home theatre and stereo. I took it out of the box and fired this baby up, did some small tweeking and I am loving it. This is a great product just adjust to your taste and feel the clean boom.

Works well. Fills the room with punchy bass.
Added to my home theatre setup and really makes rumbling explosions and such shake the couch. Takes a basic RCA input from my AV receiver. Makes a nice small end table next to one of my chairs.

BUYERS BEWARE!!!
This sub was discontinued by JBL within one year of my purchase. Parts are no longer available for it. This product is still available as new, on their website, with no mention of this information. Sad part is this sub was responsive and sounded amazing, for the little over one year it worked. I would have loved to repair it and continue to use it. Local repair shop confirmed it was a components issue and not a power surge or abuse/misuse (maybe why it's discontinued with no replacement parts available). If you're spending this kind of money on a sub, go with a SVS. They stand behind all their registered subs with a 5 year warranty.

It’s JBL
You don’t know what you’re missing until you get a 12” SW; and you don’t know what you’re missing until you get JBL. This thing is what it takes to really light up your music. I’m not talking about the over-bassed stuff that is contantly rattling the house apart, more like you want the subtle bass in Genesis (Squonk - live), Pat Metheny, a lot of contemporary jazz... The auto-on works perfectly with my Marantz, which was a problem with my prior SW - it’d come & go.One area to watch: when unpacking this, realize that the cone is exposed. Poking your fingers through it would ruin your whole day.
