Bonide Captain Jack's Deadbug Brew Insecticide, 32 oz

I'd give this 4.5 stars if that was an option. I bought it for thrips on my plants, and it does work, just not quite as effective as some other products I've used in the past. However, the ease of use (not having to mix it with water, no mess) makes up for that. One day after the first application most of the thrips were gone. It also seemed to work pretty well on the leaf roller caterpillars that were also on the plants. It's been a week since I used it and my plants are already looking healthier. To protect pollinators, use the spray in the evening so it can dry overnight. For best results, don't use it if it's going to rain. I didn't notice any odor from the product, but I also didn't get real close to it to smell it.

Sadly my entire small collection of houseplants and editable indoor crops had been infested with thrips and flea beetles. It really took me a while to understand I have pest. This is where Captain Jack's comes in. I immediately sprayed everything down with it and noted multiple beetles jumping off the plants. I'm not sure how large the infestation is but I know I am going to need to reapply this product. So far so good. I'm using this in combination with Azamax so the pest has no chance of becoming immune should feature generations hatch. This doesn't have any odors that I noticed. It's also safe for all crops to be eaten, rinse everything well and it should be good to go a full 24hr after harvest. Labeling has information on which crops and how long to wait before consumption. Update 9/15/26 All of my houseplants and indoor crops has recovered fully. My monstera is currently growing a new leaf. All 3 of my dracaenas has resumed their growing cycles. I'm happy with this product. Alternating this with Azamax did the trick nicely. It took about a month of weekly spraying with the two products for my plants to recover. I also put up sticky traps to catch the thrips. Overall, this product has been really good for my needs. They should make a larger bottle for folks with a larger plant collection than I have.

Budworms destroyed my beautiful petunias just in time for my birthday, and I was devastated. I had to spray this all over my plants two nights in a row, but after the second application, the budworms seemed to be gone! I found one on the third day, but it was dead. I wish I could have gotten a smaller bottle of this, but hopefully it will last a few seasons in case I need it again. I'm just glad it worked!

Works great for keeping unwanted bugs under control in my garden. The ready-to-use spray bottle makes application quick and convenient, and I like having something I can easily grab when I notice pests on my plants. It has worked well for me and has become one of my regular garden products.

I have mixed thoughts about this product. It kills the bugs on my pepper plants virtually instantly but with a couple of days they are all back.

ive been using it for around a week ish already, but honestly not a very clear change😭😭 maybe i need to use it for longer but the bugs did not die or even get less
