Sonic Mania Plus - Nintendo Switch

An extremely charming game. This is probably the pinnacle of 2D Sonic games. This also comes off as a love letter to the Genesis and 16-bit gaming in general. Be warned--this game can get tough as nails. But it is tons of fun and keeps gameplay fresh by interjecting special stages, pinball, quasi 3D stages, etc. The options are extensive, the different playable characters should have something for everyone, and it looks and plays fantastic on my Nintendo Switch.The packaging is also quite delightful. It comes in a holo foil slip case, includes an art book with some hidden messages and secrets, and the box art for the Switch cartridge case includes a reverse side designed like a classic Sega genesis cover. The text on this cover is full of 90's vocabulary and fun references.For only $30, this is an excellent physical game package for the Switch. And likely one of the best side scrollers on the Switch, and easily the best Sonic game in quite a while.I applaud Sega for this endeavor. My eyes are finally on them once again.

I think we all know that Sonic mania is a great game, possibly one of the best 2d platformers of all time, but if it wasnt good enough, it just got even better! Not only do you get the original Sonic Mania experience, but you also get 2 new characters, Encore Mode (which is a sort of "Hard" mode), and the beautiful shiny case and 32 page artbook. If you've previously purchased the digital version of this game, I would recommend to just download the dlc or buy this game for a different platform, but if you haven't purchased this game before, now is the best time to do so. This really is the "Plus" version of Sonic Mania and I highly recommend it.

If you love the original sonic games this is for you! The game is very fun and has lots of content and the case and other fun this you get in this are very good quality and great to look at.

If you ever wanted to relive the feeling you had when you were young and played Sonic for the first time or want to get a kid into playing an amazing game buy this. It’s incredible. All of the fun of he original sonic with familiar levels throw in but remixed so it doesn’t feel stale. 4 playable characters, in person multiplayer. Beautiful pixel graphics, rad soundtrack, and interesting and new mechanics.I was expecting a fun trip down memory lane. I got a BLAST from the past. Extremely enjoyable experience. The best of new and old!!!

I grew up playing sonic on the old Sega Genesis systems. At the time, the Sonic series was one of my favorite to play and I was always eager to beg my parents to get me the next version.Fast forward many many years a head and here I am, feeling like that young kid again running through these levels a warp speed, collecting rings, and screaming at the screen at the slightest screw up on, what is usually my fault.With what looks like a graphical upgrade, it still remains the same amazing game I played decades ago. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who was a part that early Sega/SNES era of gaming, or even someone who wants to experience what all that nostalgia talk you here is all about.

If you haven't bought Sonic Mania yet since last year your wait will truly be worth it now with this physical version. For $30 it's really a steal. Sega and the Christian Whitehead team are very passionate about delivering quality content at a reasonably affordable price and here they've done it again. Excellent packaging as marketed, a nostalgic reverse sleeve Sega Genesis cover and a 32-page art book that illustrates nearly all of Sonic Mania's primary development. It's a super nice addition to the package and only shows more how much the developers cared about this game and its audience. I would recommend this to both newcomers and if you already bought the game digitally, there is so much satisfaction to be had with this physical release. The 32-page artbook on its own makes it a must-have, especially to collectors. So much appreciation and went into making this and it be a shame to not own this as a hardcore gamer or longtime Sonic fan.

If you are at all nostalgic for old 90's side scrollers then this it. Starting right with the opening sequence with classic music remixed you know your in for a great game. Mixing things up letting you run either Sonic/Tails/Knuckles is great as they each have their own play style and abilities to tackle different challenges you'll face. The sphere mini-games however gave me anxiety through the roof, otherwise it was a great game.

Sonic Mania Plus is a must have for anyone who loves Sonic or old-school platforming action. This version comes with a physical cartridge, a reversible cover, and an art book! Plus, the game itself comes with all of the dlc. It's most definitely worth the price here, considering the game itself already costs $20, and additional $5 for the dlc. So go ahead and buy this version (it even comes in a shiny box)! Heck, I bought this game 3 times, and I've been a happy customer every purchase!
