The Count of Monte Cristo (Cliffs Notes)

I purchased this guide for myself and also because my wife’s book club was reading “The Count of Monte Cristo.” One thing I learned - neither the guide nor the actual novel has any appeal for me - I would rather read the telephone directory !

This booklet helped me to understand the story. I had a hard time keeping all the characters straight because the book is so long.

Keep in mind this is apparently for the abridged version, since I read the unabridged version and these notes missed a lot.

The chapters didn’t align with the edition I read, but I managed. It did list all the character, of which there are many.

A great summary and explanation of the plot characters, especially all of the aliases. This has filled in some of the blanks - recommended!

Do NOT read this in place of the novel!! I did that with a Thomas Hardy novel in college and regretted it from day one, reading it years later and loving it.That being said, these Cliffs Notes are very well written, concise and informative.I just finished reading the unabridged edition (1,250 pages) of The Count of Monte Cristo and loved it. These Notes help explain characters and events clearly and bring the whole story together.

I started reading this book in the unabridged, not cliffnotes, version. Needless to say, the 1095 page book takes along time to read. About 500 pages into I decided to read the cliffnotes. From what i have read, this is a great book full of daring, adventure, and revenge. As you read, you see the main character outwit and manipulate everyone to his own vengeful scheme. Its a great book and I would recomend it to anyone that loves the classics.

My high-schooler has the Clif'fs Notes on his desk along with the unabridged book that he is required to read and the Clif'fs notes really help him stay focused on the chapters and main events as he reads the book. Cliff's Notes have always been an excellent tool. I remember using them in high school and colllege as an aide to help comprehension of the book. Great buy!
