I was looking for a coffee machine for my kitchen when Amazon suggested one of these mini espresso makers at £30 (rrp £60), I was tempted but at that price I decided to just buy the coffee machine I actually needed.A week later the same mini espresso maker was on offer for £20! I work away from home a lot and often stay in hotels but the instant coffee available doesn't cut it for me, and I can't afford to feed my caffeine addiction all day at £2.50 a cup in the various coffee chain outlets.This maker creates good espresso coffee complete with a decent crema and using my choice of espresso ground coffee.My first maker lasted well over a year of regular use despite some rough treatment from me (naturally clumsy), I finally decided to buy a replacement maker after I lost the measuring spoon supplied with the maker (it is also used to tamp down the ground coffee just like a proper Barista does). I felt I had easily had my £20-worth of good coffee and I now have a set of spare parts (except for the lost spoon)I would also recommend finding a small bottle brush to assist cleaning the maker when away from home.

A couple of years back I was given a Nespresso Krups Citiz (with milk frother) machine. After fairly regular use for 2yrs the motor started to struggle and it would regularly leak all over the kitchen work surface despite regular cleaning/de-scaling. I was never really satisfied with the quality of the coffee produced by the machine and a replacement would have cost me about £200 which I did not have so I decided to look for an alternative. After extensive reading I decided to try the Arendo Mini-Espresso Machine for just under £20 until I could afford another machine of some sort. When it arrived I was quite surprised by the quality of the unit and was totally surprised by the quality of the espresso coffee it produced (with a nice creme), it was better than any cup that had been produced by the "Nespresso Krups Citiz (with milk frother) machine" over the last couple of years. I normally drink a single strong shot of espresso during the day but have a larger Americano with breakfast. This-morning I used this new machine and run 3 lots of water through the singe coffee shot and it produced a very nice Americano. I am so happy with this machine and the quality of the coffee produced that I will not be looking for an expensive replacement for my old machine which never produced a coffee of the same quality. If I had not retired I would have been purchasing another one to use in work.

For a little effort this device makes a nice cup of espresso - of course you have to pick a blend you like but just measure some into the holder, assemble the device and a few pumps later (it helps to have big hands!) you have a cup of coffee. Once cool, simply take apart and rinse under the tap. I've had this a week now and am confident it will last a long time as it is solidly constructed, even at this price. It doesn't use capsules, but if you don't drink a lot I guess you could buy them so they stay fresh and just tip out the coffee grounds as needed (unless you grind the beans yourself). Well pleased.************************** UPDATE ***************************************I'm afraid I was a little hasty in my assessment of the robustness. After 10 days (maybe 12 uses?) the pump stopped working and no coffee came out. I have returned it as faulty. A shame, it was good little gizmo while it lasted.

Once you have used it once its easy to use, fairly quick and easy to clean.I use in the office at work and when traveling in hotels.Seems well designed and made, doesn't leak as long as you keep below the max fill line. I personally like strong coffee and I tend to use this to make a mug full, not just a single shot. This can be done quickly by simply refilling the water tank and pressing again.With this I can do 3 shots through a single portion of grounds in under 2 minutes, then cleaning is easy just rinse and dry.Compact and light enough to travel with.

Perfect for making a cafe quality latte at home. I love getting a latte from Starbucks or mc cafe but no instant coffee tasted as fresh or as good. From working in a store that sells coffee I know a latte is just an espresso topped up with steamed milk. With an espresso from this gadget and some warmed milk (in the microwave) it tastes just as good as any cafe for a fraction of the price! I’m yet to use it whilst camping but I love it. UPDATE the pump has stopped returning to the point it should so I have to pull and push. I’m assuming there’s a fault with the product and I’m seeking to return it in hope I get a perfect one

The device is good in principle, but the quality of the plastic mouldings was poor on the one I received. Although it appeared to fit together properly, it leaked hot water from top and bottom when pressurised. I returned it via Amazon for a refund as it twice leaked boiling water onto my hands. When it did work without leaking the coffee tasted good.

This is the third of this type of maker I've bought, from different brands though all appear the same design and materials. They do make a decent espresso with not too much fuss, but in all cases so far they have started to leak after 6 months or so. For camping and occasional use I'd give 5 stars, just don't expect to use it every day.

The plastic is high quality and the assembly is simple. It is well designed and fits together well.The pump is easy and wont be a problem unless you suffer with arthritis.Cleaning is easy as it just needs a rinse and then refil ready to go again.I love this little thing
