Beautiful, lovely weight and great quality

I'm brand new at watercolours so bear that in mind with this review. I've found this little book to be excellent. The size is a good balance between being large enough to make some decent pieces without being so big as to be unwieldy. The cover has a nice texture, and I appreciate the elastic closure, ribbon marker, and little paper pocket inside the back cover. The paper seems nice and thick. I've not had any bleed through at all with watercolour (and sometimes I've been scrubbing fairly hard!). The only time I've had anything showing through was using black Sharpie, and going over the line 2 or 3 times, and even this is only just visible (see pic with hearts). There's also minimal warping or bending of the paper even when working with lots of water. I've been using a bulldog clip in the centre of the long edge and that seems to be what's caused the warping! One minor annoyance I have is the change in texture depending on what side of the paper I'm using. As the pages are made from blocks of 2 larger pieces of paper folded over, you get a mixture of smoother and bumpier pages. I've tried to illustrate this in a photo but it's quite hard to capture. This may well be the case with every watercolor book, I don't know, but it does mean a change in how the paint acts. They're not alternating but they are in a predictable sequence so we least you can plan double-page pieces for a point in the book where there are 2 of the same texture together. Overall I really like this book; for the price (I paid £16.99) it ticks all the boxes I wanted and I'll almost certainly reorder when I fill this one!

Lovely size sketch book with a flat seam so easy to paint a picture over two pages. Water colours go on the paper nicely
