The Conclave Blue Ray is not fit for purpose.
I bought this item on the 13th December 2024 and delivered to me on 13th February 2025. My intention was to give it to my husband as an Easter gift which I did yesterday 19th April 2025. When we tried to watch the blue ray a statement appeared on the screen the blue ray was for Region B and not multi-regional. The blue ray is not fit for purpose and I would like a full refund and a Royal Mail QR code to return the Conclave Blue Ray to the Seller. Can you help me with this issue. Kathleen Rebecca Davis

Do judge the book by this film.
Very rarely does a film do justice to the original novel. I've lost count of the number of times I've watched a film or TV series of a favourite book and despaired at the changes to plot and character motivation (don't get me started on Dune 2!).so I approached this film of Robert Harris' best seller with some scepticism especially when the main character was changed to English instead of Italian But I shouldn't have worried. It is probably the most faithful adaptation of a book to screen I have ever seen. Ralph Fiennes was perfect and the rest of the cast matched him beat for beat. He should have won the Oscar!!! Stanley Tucci ( always brilliant) was also perfect. The only slight gripe is that Isabella Rossellini's character was reduced to little more than a bit part when in the book Sister Agnes has a more prominent and pivotal role in what unfolds. Nevertheless this is a masterclass in subtle powerful writing acting and direction as well as being a genuinely tense and absorbing story. If you like this I'd also recommend getting hold of The Shoes of The Fisherman starring Anthony Quinn and Laurence Olivier- also about the election of a new pope and particularly relevant to the state of the world today.

A quality production
Having read the book, I enjoyed this film, but not as much as I did the book. I know this is a regular complaint about films based on books, but it's none the less valid. Films (we hear) are becoming gradually redundant, in the face of competition from streamed TV. Watch this well-acted and exciting movie and you'll understand why. The complexity and the depth of the novel's plot warranted at least six TV episodes, not just a 115 minute superficial summary. Nonetheless, if you haven't read the book, you should definitely watch this film, if only for the quality of its production.

A wonderful film. Watch it!
I had already read the book, which I found totally enthralling. I had high hopes for the film, especially with this excellent cast. I was not disappointed. It is one of the best films that I have seen recently. It reflects the book closely.Visually, it is stunning. The sets are magnificent. The costumes, especially the scene on the first day of Conclave are beautifully done.Unusually, having read the book, I have few criticisms to make of this film. I highly recommend it.

Very, Very, Very GOOD.
I'm really glad I bought this, it was well worth the watch. The final choice for Pope was exactly the right one IMHO but then I'm not Catholic, there may be many Catholics out there that disagree with me. I can't help wondering if this was anywhere near remotely like what really goes on during a Conclave and I live in hope that it is pretty close anyway. This film has mostly answered the many questions I have always had about the process. I most definitely recommend this film, it will most certainly keep you immersed if nothing else. Without doubt, an easy 5 STARS to give and I'll probably watch again in a couple of years.

Worth seeing.
I’m glad Conclave is getting good reviews. It’s a decent film. If you enjoyed the movie, do read the book. If you have already read the book, you may be a little underwhelmed by the movie, which - as movies do - has to be paired back, simpler, with less complexity, so lacking the depth and richness of the book. As the saying goes, bad books can make good movies, but good books are difficult to surpass. That’s just the way it is. Don’t let that put you off seeing the movie. Performances are solid and workmanlike. Nothing spectacular. Nobody breaks a sweat! (Ralph Fiennes does more listening then talking) For those that hanker after action, this is not for you. It’s a Talkie. Subtitles? Yes, it has some subtitles, but this is simply for colour and enhances the movie. All the important dialogue is spoken in English. Just to correct an earlier reviewer who enthused that there was no CGI. I understand the sentiment, but in fact this is not true. Although there are some lovely exterior and interior locations, the film is studded with CGI. The bulk of the movie was shot at the famous Italian Cinecittà studios. The Sistine Chapel, Casa Santa Martha interiors, along with the papal suits and cardinal suits, were all shot there. Understandably you don’t recreate the glory of the Sistine chapel for real, so the sets will have stopped short and all the vaulted ceilings, spectacular murals - the chapel’s famous ceiling frescos - and high lit windows, etc, added later. So lots of CGI. But that’s the magic of cinema.
