The Breed [DVD]

I for one loved this movie, despite the low opinion of it by others! I'm all for good cheesy horrors and I found this to very entertaining, the story is quite different and a bit more original than usual horrors, there has been a few dog horrors in the past but I think this one is pulled off with good style and effect, basically the plot is a group of college kids fly to a remote island for a party, only to find its been taken over by a new breed of savage killer dogs, as the story progresses we discover these are no ordinary animals, its a great set up for some painful savage bloody kills and gore, the dogs all look really scary especially if your not a big dog lover, I think as dogs being a common fear for some people it makes them a more grounded villain for a horror, the cast is all ok, Michelle Rodriguez of course being probably the most famous face in the movie, personally I would say see it if you haven't already, its not the best horror ever but its highly enjoyable and genuinely creepy and worth going back too, im shocked that somebody hasn't tried to make a sequel already.The picture of the Blu-ray (German import) is not too bad, slight white bitty-ness in the blacks some places but don't spoil the film.Special features include behind the scenes making of (English language)Region B. English Language. Reversible sleeve.

So girls beware as this show is about two men taking their girlfriends to an exotic island for the usual romp around thinking this is going to be a great time with no worries. Hate to disappoint you as there is a word called BUT, so I told you didn't I !. Things start going out of control the first night when things go wrong, I'm not going to tell you as you'll have to find out the same way I did and that is to watch, spoil sport I am as I wont tell you everything because that will spoil it for you. I rated this an A grade plus as the story is great acting terrific and the canines played there parts good as well, oh did I forget to mention the dogs well they add something to the show as well. Relax to a night in with fabulous entertainment with feet up and a blanket. Enjoy!

A group of friends travel by seaplane to a remote island to spend the weekend in a house left to two brothers in their uncle's estate. What seems to be an idyllic location soon becomes a nightmare after the island's residents, a pack of dogs, come to visit. And these aren't standard dogs...This is the type of story that must have brought many challenges to the filmmakers as they needed to make the villains a pack of dogs, and spend much of the run time with these animals in frame. They have done this extraordinarily well with the dogs exhibiting appropriate aggression and the appearance of being diseased - almost rabid. Makeup helps with the dogs being smeared with blood and regularly tearing up other animals or humans. The film follows the human characters as they attempt to evade the dogs and find ways to escape the house and these attempts can be quite inventive and entertaining. The acting is commendable and there is plenty of action to keep interest levels up.The Blu-ray presentation is great with solid colours and good clarity. The audio is also impressive with a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack, providing no issues in hearing the dialogue and making good use of the surround channels.

I really enjoyed this film. Keeps you on the edge of your seat because there is no way of knowing how it will end - and what an end! I really enjoyed the 'Bonus Features' showing the making of the film - and the bravery of the actors in the process. Highly recommended for those who enjoy a good believable thriller/horror movie.

The starting is promising but gradually takes a slope downhill. It would have been better if the dogs actually looked like they had rabies (as in Stephen kings 'cujo' which beats this movie by a mile). The acting is 50/50 and not superb. Overall a one watch movie which will catch dust just sitting on your dvd shelf after that

Ich "hasse" Tierhorror, aber diesmal, wurde ich sehr überrascht.Ja was soll ich sagen, fange ich mit der Qualität an:1 Ton, Musik sind super.2 Alter Film, doch super Kameraführung und bestes Bild.3 Gute Schauspieler, gute Synchronisierung.Das wars auch schon komme ich zum Film:Kein wirklicher Horror, aber super in Scene gesezt. Eine Gruppe Jugendlicher, jeder hat eine andere Art an sich, machen Ferien auf einer Insel.Jedoch, haben Sie, nicht damit gerechnet, das Hunde auf dieser Insel "wohnen"Es fängt mit einem kleinen Schäferhund an, der die Gruppe besucht, jedoch eine wirklich seltsame Art an sich hat. Liebevoll, aber hinterhältig.Der kleine läuft weg, und stellt sich hinter, einem ausgewachsenen Hund, der agressiv angreift und das Mäddel beist, nach einer Nacht, hat sie sich verändert, kann Dinge wahrnehmen.Die beiden Brüder wussten woher die Hunde kommen könnten, denn es gab ein Labor, an dem Experimente an Hunden gemacht wurde, dadurch sind die Hunde schlauer geworden.ICH MÖCHTE, DAMIT HINWEIßEN, DASS DIE HUNDE KEIN TOLLWUT HABEN, WIE VIELE HIER SAGEN, SIE SIND GENETISCH GEÄNDERT WORDEN!!!!!Dadurch wissen die Hunde sehr viel und lassen die Menschen nicht mehr von der Insel herrunter, sei es, das sie das Seil, kaputt beisen, vom Flugzeug und darauf 2 Hunde warten. Sie warten auf den Mutigen, der dem Flugzeug hinterher schwimmt.SIE SPRINGEN NICHT DURCH WÄNDE!!!!Sie springen durch ein Fenster, und das können nicht nur Hunde, sondern auch alle anderen Tiere oder gar Menschen!!!!Das gebissene Mädchen wurde mit dem Speichel angesteckt und weiß daher ein wenig, wann die Hunde kommen oder was sie vorhaben. Ich denke die können das Mittel dadurch verbreiten.Schnell ist klar das die Gruppe wohl, nicht von der Insel runter kommen werden.NICHT WEIL DIE HUNDE FLEISCH HABEN WOLLEN!!sondern weil sie so schlau sind und wissen, wenn die Menschen entkommen, dann werden sie Bewaffnet wieder kommen und versuchen sie umzubringen.Sehr sehr Spannend, und sehr zu empfehlen!!!.Ich will gar nicht alles vor weg nehmen, aber wenn ich hier einige Kommentare lese, zu diesem Film, dann wird mir schlecht!!!Tollwut, halb den Film geschaut und ausgemacht, durch Wände springen....etc.Lasst euch nicht verunsichern und kauft dieses Film ruhig, der Preis ist super und die Geschichte, der Hunde sehr spannend!!!5 dicke Sterne von mir *****
