Very good wheat berries
Very good wheat berries. I have very good sprout rates well over 95%. I have used them with both soil and soil-less growing techniques and had great results both ways. The resulting wheat grass flavor is very similar with both methods. Not strongly bitter at all. Very sweet but not overpowering. I've had plenty of rich cakes that i found too sweet but this grass was not like that.It grows quick. I live in northern Wisconsin and have been growing this indoors in late fall and now the snow is flying. 12 or 24 hour soak of room temp water and 2-3 days of rinsing thoroughly twice a day and then i plant. 4-6 days after planting it is harvestable or you can let it grow taller and even split off a second shoot. I didn't notice a flavor difference cutting it once it gets to 6 inches or 8 inches and splitting off. Second crop tasted about the same in soil. I haven't let any soil-less crop go for 2nd growth but you could.Soil-less growing I add 1 tablespoon of baking soda per gallon of water for spraying the seeds until the sprouts go green and for the water supply. I have been experimenting with using very small amounts of kelp fertilizer to the water supply they grow on. growth is a little faster and fuller. no noticeable taste difference. The baking supply is to aid in keeping the grass neutral or slightly alkaline to naturally offset soil acidity or water supply as well as to help prevent mold.

100 wheat grass shots and counting!
They sprout. That's pretty much the end of the review! Seriously though, everything I have bought from Sprout house so far has sprouted very well. If you want some no fuss wheat grass, here is what you do... buy a bag of these berries, put 1 cup in a glass jar with 2 cups of water. Let them soak for 12 hours. Drain the jar and rinse/drain every 8 hours for the next 1-2 days. When you start to see the little white roots popping from the berries, you are ready to find a tray. I use a 12x20 inch tray. I lay down some cling wrap at the bottom and spread these wheat berries all across the tray. No soil required! I started out using soil and after doing a few batches completely soil-free, I notice no less nutrient or quality of grass. Anyway, I just pull a roll of paper towels over these berries and using a spray bottle give them a nice quick mist once every 4-8 hours. Watch over the next 5-10 days as you grow your very own wheat grass!

Amazing!! Truly!
I bought these seeds for my cats. The grass comes up so fluffy, bright green, and gorgeous that I feel a bit guilty that I'm not juicing it myself!! (Damn, I need to buy a juicer now). I've been using this same bag of seeds for months, in order to grow grass for my cats, and I feel like I've barely made a dent in the bag. This is saving me tons of money from buying those $5.99 cat grasses at the market. I'm so happy with this purchase. I will definitely be buying this again when I run out. The quality is amazing.

Seemed fine, so I bought them
I've been buying Todd's or Handy Pantry seeds for many years. I use the grass for juicing wheatgrass. Recently Amazon switched their Prime option to these Sprouthouse seeds instead. Seemed fine, so I bought them. They are pathetic by comparison. At best they yield half the juice that Todd's seeds did and the germination rate is way lower. I'd estimate a third of each tray does not even sprout. I'll being going back to Todd's or Handy Pantry. Please switch your Prime option back to the quality seeds Amazon.

Great quality
These are great. I make wheatgrass and rejuvelac using these wheatberries, and they are yummy (for wheatgrass), and sprout quickly, with a high germination rate. I've grown them in soil and hydroponicly (sp?), and they work great for wheatgrass both ways.I give the rejuvelac to my dogs, so this works out to be a very affordable probiotic for them too. Also, I make very tasty vegan cheese from the rejuvelac.

but was disappointed with the yield
Bought these to start growing wheatgrass for juicing, but was disappointed with the yield. Compared to the wheat berries I buy from the bulk foods bin at Whole Foods, these berries produce a much shorter and less juicy grass. I grow them in the same soil with the same watering/fertilizing routine but this grass is always 30%-50% shorter than that grown from the Whole Foods bulk seeds.

Yes!
This is great grass. We've used several brands all purchased through Amazon. They were all about the same price per pound. We grew all the different brands in different types of soil i.e Organic soil, regular potting soil, and soil from the cow field. All the different brands sprouted about the same, grew at about the same rate but these Wheat berries from "Sprout House" had a nicer flavor, regardless of the type of soil. I would highly recommend these. On a side note; skip the hydroponics and just go to your garden center and buy regular potting/garden soil or organic soil. No difference in taste ( and less expensive) but I did read that organic soil may be to acidic for wheat grass. Anyway.. if your wondering which brand, you can't go wrong with these.
