Excellent stuff, reminds me of the popcorn topping of my childhood
I'm a big fan of cheese popcorn and happened to find myself describing to some family members how I used to eat Orville Redenbacher's microwave variety, which in the late 80s and early 90s came in the form of popped kernels that were slightly cheesy but which relied on a little foil pack-in of cheddar powder for the consumer to sprinkle on as the primary flavor. It was a rich, delicious cheddar flavor that completely surpasses the weird, heavy, greasy stuff with the pre-applied (and only vaguely cheesy) flavor that they churn out now. Unfortunately in my area of the Midwest they stopped making the good stuff with the foil cheese packet many years ago, and it took this random family conversation to start me on a quest to determine whether a reasonably similar product exists. After some research (and loads of great reviews) I went with Hoosier Hill Farm and I'm glad I did. While I'm sure that the cheese can be used in any number of other dishes I bought it primarily as a popcorn topping and it serves that purpose very well. When shaken fairly liberally over a fresh bag of buttery Pop Secret or some lightly buttered home cooked popcorn, this stuff tastes great. Just like the delicious Orville cheese popcorn of my childhood it tastes rich and sharp, just tangy and cheddary enough to be exactly the flavor profile that I was looking for. While the container looked a bit smaller than I expected once I actually held it in my hand, it seems like it's going to last a while. I expect that I'll be able to go through dozens of servings before the powder runs out, though of course individual mileage may vary. It's hard to say much else about this product because I'm using it for such a singular purpose and not everyone's taste buds fire the same way, but what I can say is that this cheese hit the spot for my popcorn experiment and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to do the same.

Maybe a different opinion
I see a lot of people saying "This is just like kraft" I disagree. It's still very good, but it has a distinct taste all its own, that certainly won't make you unhappy, just be forewarned, I think this is rather different than the "kraft" flavor.I will probably buy it again when this runs out.

Not as good as Kraft, but better than nothing.
Using as a substitute for my favorite Kraft Grated American Cheese Food, or as it was rebranded, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Topping. They were based on the Kraft American Cheese Food. This is cheddar cheese and has a more powerful flavor. I prefer the lighter flavor of the Kraft products. But as Kraft no longer sells what their customer's want (except in small packages inside mac & cheese boxes) this is an okay substitute if used more sparingly. Will continue to order until Kraft comes to their senses.

not quite what I expected
The cheese powder came quicker than I expected and I excited to try it right away. For me, the quality is not up to par. The cheese powder is not cheesy enough compared to the amount of salt in the product. I have used it for macaroni and cheese and sprinkled over popcorn. By the time I have added enough cheese powder to really get the cheddar flavor, it is just too salty. The color is also extremely vibrant and I would say too colorful, especially compared to the amount of salt/cheese used. I would not recomment this product unless you like orange salt with a hit of cheese.

It's real Cheese!
I love to put cheese on my popcorn. I would buy boxes and boxes of macaroni and cheese just for the little packets of cheese powder for my popcorn. It had to be that top brand-named macaroni and cheese (it was the only one that had real cheese powder - all the rest are fake and/or loaded with MSG). This left a small (sic) problem. Boxes and boxes of opened macaroni (no cheese). My solution to all of those little opened boxes of macaroni? Put them into a bigger container. When I had accumulated more than 100lbs of macaroni, the only solution was Chili Mac and Goulash. My family got tired of Goulash and Chili Mac. I finally found a solution when I found a cheese powder product (in-bulk) at an Amish store in Indiana (I think this is produced by Hoosier Hill Farm, but it wasn't labelled, it was in a ten pound bag). This posed another problem. I didn't live in Indiana - I live in Texas (one Amish community more than 150 miles away from me). Did you know Texas is larger than several countries? When that bag was empty (about two years' of popcorn), I had to find this product either in a store close to me or from a mail order company. That big-named cheese manufacturer had started marketing their Mac & Cheese powder in a very little shaker container. I was buying ten of those little containers each month. It was marketed for about one year, then they pulled the product from the shelves. It seems there was only one store where it was being bought and only by one person (could that have been me?). Other companies sell popcorn cheese, but all of those are 80% salt. What was I supposed to do, kill more innocent boxes of macaroni and cheese? It was beginning to look more and more like additional Chili Mac and Goulash for the family - I was suffering from cheese popcorn withdrawals. I needed my fix.------Enter Amazon. One day I was poking around on Amazon for a few other items of food that I love, but cannot find in Texas, and came across Hoosier Hill Farm Cheddar Cheese Powder, 1.5 lb. . Could it be true? I ordered two tubs of this stuff. It went on a bag of freshly popped popcorn within 3.5 minutes of arriving at my door. HEAVEN! Now what could I do with all of that Macaroni? Had I finally found my solution to all that Macaroni in dozens of opened M&C boxes? Not for the present (now), but for the future. Making M&C was out - I don't like M&C. The family will just have to live with Chili Mac and Goulash until the macaroni is depleted. Hoosier Hill Farm Cheddar Cheese Powder, 1.5 lb. is absolutely the best cheddar cheese powder. No fillers. No added salt or preservatives. Just cheese! I love this product. I would love to see this product on my grocer's shelves (I am not trying to take any business away from Amazon's amazing delivery service). Keep providing this stuff so I can keep eating it on my popcorn. (For my family's sake.)
