Lots of good and a little not-so-much...
I recently broke one of the latches on my 11” x 7” Plano in which I stored a big pile of plastic jig bodies and heads. I had been meaning to go through that box and dispose of the colors/bodies I wasn’t using so this gave me some motivation. I ordered this two-pack of Reaction Tackle boxes (even though I knew there were less potential compartments) since I was planning to cut back as mentioned previously. The overall dimensions are actually pretty close as you can see in the photo where I placed the Reaction Tackle box on top of the Plano. So, some of the good things I observed included the following. The box and dividers are thicker and more sturdy than a cheap-o box I recently purchased but not quite as thick as my original Plano. The Reaction Tackle dividers have a small “bump” molded into the edges which helps the divider stay down. The Plano has a similar mechanism but the aforementioned cheap-o box does not. The dividers on the cheap-o constantly ride up letting the contents mix between compartments. Grrrr! The Reaction Tackle compartments have curved floor edges which is the industry standard…except in those cheap-o boxes. The latches on the cheap-o boxes are loose and constantly drop into the down position making it annoying to properly shut and latch the box. The Reaction Tackle latches stay in the “up” position until you close the box and secure the latches. If there is a significant downside to the Reaction Tackle boxes it is that they cannot be sub-divided into even smaller compartments like my old Plano. Most if the time I don’t really need that sub-size, however, it’s a nice option when you just have a few of a given item. As you can see in my final photo, I was able to really clean up my jig box. The larger compartments will make reaching my fat fingers in there easier by an order of magnitude. The second box looks like it’s going to be dedicated to tube jigs, right? The $15 price point ($7.50 each) is nothing freakishly inexpensive but I suppose it reflects the overall quality. This is a solid four star product.
