DID THE JOB
I repotted several house plants. Apparently, there were gnats in the potting soil when I bought it. My house began to fill with gnats. I had to do something. I chose these because I'm very sensitive to chemicals. These do not put off any chemicals or smell. They are easy to use. Really sticky, so you have to be careful setting it up. But wow does it do the job. The gnats were stuck all over them. My gnat problem was so bad I even bought more.

Okay, but there's better.
I got fungus gnats on tomato seedlings. I had moderate success with these sticky traps - more so than I experienced with DIY sticky traps using vaseline on yellow card stock. The one downside is that I found myself and my dog wearing them because they stick to everything. The most success I had was using the commercial sticky trap that has a blue light attached. The latter cleaned up my problem in a couple of days.

They Work
I noticed a few gnats flying around. My boyfriend thought they were fruit flies. I didn't think they were, but I set out my homemade fruit fly traps. Those usually fill up quite quickly if we have fruit flies and this time there were only a handful of flies in the trap. I figured then that it was fungus gnats. Some of my recent plant purchases included bark in the potting soil. I never use that because it seems to really promote fungus gnats. I got these traps set up after getting the first one stuck to my shirt. They are not a difficult level of assembly as far as knowledge, but one does have to have a fair bit of manual dexterity to do this with ease. The first couple weeks I only saw a handful of flies on my sticky traps. I figured either there weren't as many flies as I thought or the traps didn't work. After doing a deep water (I do let my plants dry out in between waterings) I noticed the flies were really coming alive.I have traps in plants in different areas of my home. Not all of the traps are extremely full, but I can see they have been working. One of the traps is doing overtime and I took a picture for this review. I did order another brand of traps because they were cheaper. I will see how they work out after they arrive. If they aren't as good I will definitely come back and spend the extra money for these. I also plan to follow the advice of another reviewer and place thesSticky side toward the soil covering the area around the plant. I want to try to catch them before they fly up out of the soil and into the air. The other reviewer also noted that the yellow attracts the gnats. The ones I have ordered are black. I'll update after I get the new ones and try them out.

not bad but not amazing either, set up is hassle
I wish this came with more yellow sticky trap paper as they do not actually provide enough paper for every slot provided on the stake. I do like the option of stacking the stakes to be able to customize the height according to my needs. I strongly dislike that the sticky paper is not double sided, having to loop it around was sooo much harder then it looked and I ended up having to touch a large portion of the sticky side in order to put them on, meaning it is already much less effective/will not last as long. It still works but It would have been more cost effective and less time consuming to buy one that is double sided at various lengths.

Just buy it!
I’m commenting on 2 things. #1 aesthetics and #2 functionality#1. So initially I thought this would look ugly in my potted plants. However you can make it not ugly. So rather then stacking/assembling the “stems” high. I don’t stack them at all and simply apply the “leaves” or sticky traps to the single tier stem to the pot, suuuuper close to the soil so that half of the trap is hidden by the pot and the top half of the pot is hidden by my plant leaf! I should preface that this is for my bigger pot peace lilly. I haven’t used this for my smaller potted plants yet. I’m sure I can do the same and still keep my home looking good whilst removing fungus gnats!#2 functionality - ok, I expected this to work on day 1. I saw nothing on the traps. I installed a total of 2 yellow sticky “leaves” per the trap stem. So I had a total of 4 sticky leaves. I saw no bugs on them the next day. I thought I was ripped off and that this was a waste of money and time. I had my hopes up, expecting flies to just be sooo attracted immediately. On the 2nd day I saw like 3 little flies. On the third day, HOLY COW. There were like a TON of gnats. So be patient, they will definitely come around once they see their dead friends hanging out on there and others will too join (;I also bought this same brand’s fly light trap. I suggest that too! I put it in my kitchen for fruit flies and it does wonders! Again, be patient and you’ll see how much flies you don’t realize you have in your home!
