Pimoroni Display-O-Tron HAT - 16x3 Character LCD Display for Your Raspberry Pi

This LCD display is so much more practical than the other ones that go on a breadboard or have to be assembled. Takes 5 seconds to install and it comes with very nice libraries to program. I use it to display IP address and other items from my Pi.There are a few drawbacks. The contrast is not the best, but if you play with the colors and contrast parameters you can make it readable. I found that contrast of 50 and RGB of 0,200,0 (green) is the most readable.The second potential drawback is that there is no GPIO passthrough connectors, so this needs to be on the top. If you plug this directly to Pi GPIO then you can't plug anything else there. But it makes for a very nice, low profile Pi with a display. (see pictures).Note that the more common cases don't have enough room to plug this display, you need to get some of the more low profile cases.See pictures. Overall, highly recommend it you are looking for the fastest, easiest way to plug an LCD display to your Pi. excellent value, very robust.

Im Gegensatz zu den meisten Zeilen-basierten Displays hat man mit dem Display-O-tron viel mehr Möglichkeiten, den sonst oft als "Blackbox" genutzten Raspberrys eine Statusanzeige zu spendieren, die auf einen Blick viel unterbringt: Ob über die Hintergrundfarbe oder die 6 weißen "Bar-LEDs" rechts davon - beides ist überraschend hell (und steuerbar). Dazu noch die Touch-Tasten. In Kombination mit dem PiBow Coupé-Case eine stylische Lösung.Tipp: Der Kontrast der LCD-Schrift braucht in der SW eine gute Voreinstellung, um gut lesbar zu sein.Pimoroni bietet ein recht rundes Repository für all seine HATs und genug Beispiele, um mit Python die Ausgabe zu programmieren (nicht so wie einige andere chinesische Hersteller, die eher halbherzigen Support haben).Man könnte natürlich mit einem graphischen 4"-Touch-LCD-Display vergleichbares anstellen, aber mit deutlich mehr Overhead und Aufwand.

This is an awesome bit of kit! I originally bought the display-o-tron breakout and that was pretty good to, but the way the dotHAT works, and its additional features (such as the RGB back light and the bar graph) make this purchase the only choice! Customizing the back light and graph is child's play and writing to the LCD is even easier. The "touch" component again has many advantages over the dot3K also, and this advanced version is by far the better choice. There are only a few function methods to learn and these are fairly easy to figure out! All in all, you need to buy this version of the dot. Quite simply - Awesome!

Perfectamente compatible con la caja PiBow Coupé.No requiero soldar. Se instala muy fácilmente en la raspberry y con las librerías python de Pimoroni enseguida lo tienes en marcha.PD: Sólo un consejo: hay dos versiones: el Display-O-Tron 3000 que viene con un pequeño "joystick" y el Display-O-Tron HAT (en este caso, ESTE producto) que viene con 6 botones táctiles.A la hora de usar las librerías python, revisad que uséis el package "dot3k" o "dothat" según lo que hayáis comprado. Una no funciona con la otra.

Assez intéressant comme système : permet de faire des alertes visuelles grâce au rétroéclairage RVB (6 leds) les touches sensitives fonctionnent bien, ainsi que le bargraph sur le coté droit.Installation simple, on plug, on installe python (il existe une lib pour nodeJS, à priori), on récupère les exemples, et ça marche (testé sur PI2).De plus, en soudant, on peut avoir accès à 5 GPIO, du I2C, SPI et UART, 5V 3.3V et GND bien sur (selon le marquage sur la platine).A voir, si on peut déporter les touches sensitives.

Cette carte d'affichage Pimoroni fonctionne avec un Raspberry Pi3b +. L'absence de notice en papier jointe et en langue française est dommage, au moins pour les instructions d'installation logicielle donc 2 étoiles retirées pour ce motif. On trouve sur le site du fabricant les indications pour faire fonctionner cette carte, avec aussi des exemples clairs de programmes en Python, la plupart installés avec la procédure initiale. C'est une très belle carte pour interagir avec un programme, avec ses 6 zones tactiles.
