Sunbeam Mandolin Kitchen Slicer

I had a mandolin similar to this one that was damaged and needed replacement. I was somewhat skeptical of a brand I am not familiar with but I love this one more than the first! The mandolin is sturdy and the attachments/slicers fit well and are easy to switch between. It includes the safety grip that is advised for use while slicing however it did not feel too natural so I use it without. Amazed by the value and sturdiness of this gadget but we use it almost daily!

Excellent product! Haven't had any trouble with it. I find myself trying to cook items that require it's use because it is so fun and easy to use. My only criticism is that it does not allow you to adjust the cutting thickness. For the price, there is nothing better.

Used for a few months before the blade started to rust. But not bad for the price.

I will update my review once I have tried cutting cucumbers or potato. That being said, I will write what I have learned so far: my mandolin hasn't been able to slice a single fruit or vegetable (have tried quite a few). The blade seems to be able to cut about a fourth way through and then gets stuck and the item I'm trying to cut just snaps or crumbles, and I end up wasting more time using the slicer than cutting it by hand - plus the slices by hand turn out more evenly.I'm not sure if the mandolin I received is defective; maybe the blade I got just wasn't sharp enough. It has literally failed to cut all the way through anything, been more trouble than it's worth.

I bought this as a gift for a friend having had the same one myself for years. Makes things like making scalloped potatoes on a weeknight a snap. Also great for onion soup, etc.

Pros:Slices some things more evenly than I personally can with a knife.Slices some things more thinly than I personally can with a knife.Slices some things more quickly than I personally can with a knife.Cons:Cheap, flimsy plastic.Dull blade.Even with the plastic hand guard, this thing is an emergency room trip waiting to happen, due to the above.Overall:You'll have to experiment to see what foods you can and cannot reasonably slice with this thing. It can't really stand up to sweet potatoes, for instance. For me, it's better than having no mandolin at all, and better than the other slicers with higher price tags, simply because I can't afford them right now.

I already had this slicer and love it. Bought 3 of them for my kids to have. Great product and great price. I highly recommend this item for you to have in your kitchen.

Great value! Good price. Good quality. It is a replacement for one I lost in a move. Handy for big jobs.
