well. Egg on my face. I originally posted a 1 rating because I'm an idiot. I went into the settings on my PC and realized I had the volume almost all the way down. I fixed it, and these speakers are definitely worth $12. Sorry for the previous rating. Would like to delete it.

The package arrived on time but the speakers didn't work. It came in a bubble wrap envelope containing a paper thin cardboard box holding the speakers. This box was bent and torn but it didn't look like the speakers were damaged except that they didn't work. I also thought it strange there was no instructions or paperwork contained in the box. I don't recall ever getting any type of electronic item that came without the manual, warranty, etc. I have had similar speakers so I was already familiar with how to use them.

Works really well for my laptop. You have to plug it into a power outlet(computer or wall if you have a universal USB wall charger) and you can alter the sound via the computer as well as it's own scroll setting so if you dont want to change it on the computer but it's not loud enough you can just turn the speakers up without effecting the computer.

The speakers arrived, and I had a little trouble connecting them, but that's OK now.I couldn't get them to play at all on my Mac, but I checked out the system preferences, and now they will make a sound of my choice when I am notified of something, but I can't make them do anything else. I suspect the problem is with me, and not setting them up correctly, but, except for a ping when I get a notification, they don't seem to be playing any sound.So, at this point, other than that, the only thing I can say about them is that they look cute, just like in the pictures.But I have no way to listen to anything.

Did ok for the first month or so - seemed like a good purchase for the price. Then sound started cutting in and out and cracking intermittently, especially when either of them were moved, which typically indicates some loose or faulty wiring. Finally about two weeks ago they just stopped making sound completely - no hiss, no buzz, no effect when adjusting the volume dial - nothing. Can't return them so I can only pitch 'em. Caveat emptor.

I plugged the two cords into the laptop, adjusted the volume control and had a nice tune instantly. Cannot speak to durability because I just unpacked the box. For $11 this pair of speakers are a good value. I bought these because they don't have any distracting LED lights

I always say that I don't have high tech ears, so I can't really say much about the sound quality, but these seem fine to me. All I really wanted them for is the volume control. My new work computer doesn't have one -- you have to mouse over to it and move a slider on the screen, and that was driving me nuts, so this was my solution. I have taped the volume control part to the base of my computer stand and now I can adjust it easily. I share an office, so have to adjust whenever my co-worker comes back into the room, etc.

These are cheap speakers, so if you're looking for a high quality product, this isn't for you. But if you want something simple say for your tween child's computer (he's 10), these are great!Great sound, durable for your kid, and great to plug into a computer or electronic device. I would buy these again for my younger son...when he's older.
