Bamberger’s: New Jersey’s Greatest Store (Landmarks)

Having gone to the Menlo Park, and Newark NJ for years, and having worked for Macy's I found this book brought back many memories of what was a NJ great department store chain. Informative, and with illustrations, Michael created a good record of what was. Great read.

A thoroughly researched history of this great department store, filled with details about how Louis Bamberger built a retail giant in downtown Newark. Later, after having been purchased by R.H. Macy, Bamberger's expanded into and conquered the suburbs! There are tons and tons of great photographs that make it possible to visualize the wonders of department store retailing in its heyday.

A nice trip down memory lane for those who enjoyed the golden era of Newark.

Good history of store

For a a NJ native who lived with Bamberger's and worked there for his first job. It was a treat to know the whole story of this incredible retailer.

Great book, bring back good childhood memories.
