It does come as advertised, and the separate brain structures also have magnets which help them stay together. The skull is good and the detailed features seem sufficiently accurate. Overall it is good and I like it enough and will keep it. I teach and will use it as part of class demonstration. Only 3 stars due to issues in below comments (picture also attached to show some examples of issues):1. shipment packaging was poor and skull arrived broken. It was fixable so I chose to glue it and keep it instead of dealing with a return. They did give me a very small credit for the damage, and I am OK with it since it looks fine after gluing it.2. THE NUMBERS ARE TERRIBLE. It came with no number key or any documentation. I requested this and they did quickly provide an electronic version. However upon seeing the key 1) many numbers are completely missing (numbers I can see on their product picture and that are in the key are not on my model) 2) the numbers that are present are smeared and faded, making them difficult or impossible to read- it looks like they manually wrote on it with a sharpie that bled into the plastic. Extremely unprofessional, and 3) at least some of the numbers are anatomically incorrect, and some on the picture on the Amazon site do not match the numbers on the model I received.3. There is a structure above the thalamus and medial to striatum, (can't tell what it is- a fiber tract? fornix? stria terminalis?) that seems asymmetrical- present on one side but not the other. This could be intentional, I can't tell because of the lack of documentation.4. I cannot confirm the accuracy of the cranial nerves.

I first came across Phineas when it dawned on me how patients could benefit from actually SEEING areas of the brain that are activated during anxiety/anger/fear/etc.I looked all over for the right colleague. Amazon, eBay, and several medical-model sites. I finally decided on Phineas. He was indeed to be my new office-mate.He is perfect. His skull comes off and his brain comes apart into several pieces. I can show cortexes, where lobotomies were performed, what the amygdala looks like, how DBS works, etc. Phineas usually sits on my bookshelf, awaiting his moment of usefulness. Even sitting there with no involvement in therapy he looks quite dandy. He is always smiling, which brings cheer to my office. He holds an extra pair of reading glasses, and when I lose mine he always offers his.An excellent product for any psychologist, psychiatrist, or neuro-clinician.Brownie points to anyone who knows who he was named after...?- C

I am a nurse board member of a Stroke Association. We bought this to educate fifth grade classes on the importance of getting to the hospital when a stroke is suspected. The kids are very interested when they see this brain and amazed at what it really looks like inside your head. This was a good buy for the money and I would recommend buying it!

Awesome quality. The skull and brain are very nice and helped me a lot to study for my anatomy labs. Initially I didn't receive any labelling sheet for the brain, but I emailed Wellden and they were very quick to respond and sent me the labelling sheet.

This is quite an expensive item for what you get.Within a few minutes of opening the package and looking at the parts of the brain, one of the magnets fell out; so, the left temporal lobe no longer stays connected to the rest.I tried to fix it with super glue, but that didn't work.Unfortunately now I'm left with a brain that doesn't stay together.Also, the pieces don't really seem to fit together that well - you really have to play with it and manipulate the parts so that they fit properly.Finally - and I should have taken heed from the other reviewers - the numbers that are meant to label the various structures of the brain are VERY faded and look like they were written on with a sharpie; you can't even read half of them.Don't waste your money - I wish I hadn't.

Some parts hard to read numbers that have been labelled. Magnets not super strong, some pieces don’t stay together very well. But overall it’s awesome.
