This product is very well made and fit perfectly a 72 year old female, very round head, size large. I got this helmet for her because she falls often and had received a head injury from her last fall. She uses this whenever she leaves the house now for protection. The foam is thick enough for adequate cushion from any blow to the head and is comfortable. If your head is very large you may with to go with an XL, this helmet is very snug on an adult female head and has a Velcro chin strap.

But I feel like the ear cavities, you know the space where your ears go so they're not smooshed if you get kicked in the side of the head, are too small. Got it for my kid who's six and not getting kicked in the head anyway, but when time comes that he might, might look to another brand. Kid may have above average sized ears, but still, seems like they should be made to accommodate the Dumbos among us and it wouldn't bother those with smaller ears to have more space in there. Can't remember if I got the backpack, but definitely know I didn't care about it.

Finally complete my gear set with this purchase. I decided to give Whistlekick gear a try after many years for 2 reasons. 1) Durability. If this gear lasts half as long as they claim, it will have outlasted all of the other brands I’ve tried. 2) My gear spends a good deal of time in my trunk, and this gear remains supple and easy to put on even when extremely cold!

Fit my daughter. A little big but she's 6 and the kids was way too small. This one also has a hole at the top for her ponytail. Perfect for sparring, I just make the strap a little tighter and it's fine.

This helmet is great! My daughter was ready to move on from her old helmet, which had a face guard, and this was the one she chose. It is snug, but it is supposed to be! My daughter has a small head and the old helmet always moved around on her head. Not this one! She can now focus on her opponent without worrying about her helmet shifting around!

These are a great fit for my kids who have similar head sizes. While they can use them at home for practicing sparring and throws, their sensai said they cant be used in dojo as they aren't sold by the instructor. Plenty of padding and the Velcro straps are good and strong. I'd buy them again over what the dojo uses any day.

This helmet makes you sweat more during practice and the material becomes super slick when wet. It provides protection, but it tends to slide around easily which isn't ideal. If I got anything tighter I think my lips would pucker and I wouldn't be able to open my eyes. Lol
