Just like my more expensive Nest smoke detectors…. Sort of
i gave this carbon monoxide detector 5 stars…. Well, fortunately, not because it detected carbon monoxide in my home…. You have to have some faith in the vendor as to whether it actually will detect the levels they say. Instead, im talking about its overall design and packaging. So the X-Sense detector comes with some screws and mounting plugs to screw the sensors backplate to the wall. A paper wall template was not included and would have been nice. Without it, using the backplate as a template of where to drill holes into the wall, just be aware of how the backplate fits into the sensor because the holes have to be drilled in the correct position to insure that when the sensor is mounted, the tiny screen will be faced in its proper position. You dont want the sensor display to be tilted and look funny, although if it is tilted, it shouldn’t affect its function.Just before mounting, you’ll install the app and then remove the tiny tape where the battery contacts are to allow the battery to make proper contact. The sensor then turns on and you can easily complete setup of the sensor from the app. It took a couple minutes to set the app up (registering a free account) but once it detects the sensor, the app sends you a few prompts and in under a minute, your sensor is ready to go!I can’t vouch for battery life yet. Haven’t had it that long, but just be aware that when you do need to replace a battery, it wont be a standard AA or AAA battery. It’s a special lithium battery. But no worries! I’ve used these before in our ADT security sensors and they’re easy to find and not too expensive. I’ve bought them from Amazon many times in the past. If my ADT sensors are any indication, the X-Sense sensor battery may not need to be replaced for years!Son in reference to Nest smoke detectors, what i meant by saying they’re almost like them is that the X-Sense detectors do work over wifi and will alert you to a detection from the detector itself as well as sending you an alert wherever you may be; as long as you have wifi or cellular connectivity from your phone and your home wifi hasn’t gone down. But unlike Nest detectors, the X-Sense detectors will not talk to each other nor will they run through an automatic test periodically. But then again, the X-Sense detectors are a fraction of the cost and are a great deal in my opinion! So price is fantastic, setup was easy and functionality is fantastic! I can highly recommend these X-Sense detectors!

EasyInstall
The app on the phone was a bit difficult to set up and use.....still not sure if my app is connected to the alarm. What happens when I shut off my phone and then in the morning turn it back on - do I have to reconnect the alarm again?? These are unanswered.

Very nice unit. Easy install/setup.
Just received the unit today. Installation was a breeze. The app was simple to setup and get the unit connected to the Wi-Fi. The female voice was clear and loud as well as the alarms when tested.Manufacturer has you scan a QR code to register the smoke detector and they give you an extended warranty.I hope I never have to use it but I will update my review if I start to have any problems. Items such as these are made to save lives. So, if this unit malfunctions in any way, I will update this review. If this ends up being a piece of junk, you will read about it! Yet on the flip-side of that, if it does its job, you will also read about it.

Understandable Smoke and CO Detector with WiFi-Connected App
I'm very pleased with the WiFi and application setup. I want to now the smoke and CO condition when I'm away from home. In the event of an intermittent hazard, I want the events recorded. The voice announcement distinguished the location and type of event, which is important in a home with multiple types of detectors in multiple locations. The smoke sensor is photo-electric. It pairs well with a nearby ionization smoke detector to sense different types of fires.Given the combination of capabilities, this sensor is simple to set up and to use.

Super Easy Setup
Brand reviews tend to get commingled, so this is for the item shown, and the model with voice alert that were offered as a package.I hope I never have to edit this review with a report on how it worked, so I'll stick with setup and impressions. Basically, you download the app, create your account, then scan the QR code on the back of the instructions. Bring your phone and detector near your router, press the "+" at top right, and the only other prompt is to enter your Wi-Fi password. Short and easy. Drilling down into the app, it doesn't seem there's a lot of customization beyond naming locations, so I'm guessing it's pretty well thought-out. Right now, one thing I'd like to see is a wired version with battery backup. That said, my power probably is out average once every six weeks for weather or load demands. Not sure how the alarm would react in a wired version in such a scenario. FWIW, the X-Sense app states (for Apple) it may not work properly on Mac OS, but no issues on my end. Also, it would be great if it'd integrate with HomeKit rather than a stand-alone app. But it is nice that these alarms don't require a subscription. Right now, IDK if there's nagware popups for subscribing to the optional subscription remote monitoring or spamming offers to e-mail. One other thing is I'm running these with wired alarms, just in different rooms. So far, I'm quite pleased with the setup, app, and cost. We'll see if it eats batteries, glitches out, or manifests unforeseen issues.
