Protect your expensive appliance with this well built surge protector with delay.
UPDATE August 6, 202090 Day PerformanceI've noticed that some reviewers are saying that this unit did not work properly. Well all I can say is that I live in Oklahoma and between the severe weather and other situations that can cause a power failure...especially the kind that causes the power to go on and off rapidly within five seconds, this unit has worked flawlessly.I just experienced a storm tonight which caused the power to go off and then come back on within a second or so. The unit once again worked perfectly. It kept the power off for 4 minutes before applying voltage to my refrigerator.ORIGINAL REVIEWI recently experienced a weird power glitch and as a result it popped the 15 amp fuse on control board of my Kenmore Elite refrigerator. That board is $280. I am an electronics tech so I was able to troubleshoot and replace the fuse. I live in the Tulsa area so I was able to find the special fuse, otherwise I would have had to buy that expensive control board. So to prevent that from happening again I researched on Amazon and I bought this unit. If the power goes off it has a delayed start. This prevents the power coming back on immediately which in turn allows the compressor to drop the head pressure so that there is no power surge when the power comes back on.My power has went off since and this unit works perfectly.

easy to use and plug in but who knows if it works until you suffer a surge.
I bought 5 of these units to use in two houses and a large 5th wheel trailer that uses a residential refrigerator. Both houses have a stand alone freezer and a stand alone refer. My experience is that if power goes off with the compressor running and then quickly comes back the compressors can not start up under a load and will blow the breaker. This is very hard on the mother board and can blow it up. These offer a time minute delay of 4 minutes so the compressor can bleed off pressure before restarting. Frankly, these should be installed by the factory of all refers and freezers but what we don’t know won’t hurt our pocket book. It’s also a modest surge protector that may help in a surge. It has LEDs to alert you of its status, but only if it’s visible. This should really have a tone in case of failure because it’s usually mounted behind the fridge or freezer to alert you should it suffer a surge and go offline. Otherwise a good product and I like that the outlet the protected appliance is side mounted so you can move the fridge closer to the wall.

WORKS! Protects! This is my third one
This is my third Surge Protector. My 7 year old refrigerator died (The computer, not the compressor). I installed this to protect it. Then we had to get a new basement refrigerator. Decided to add this to that one. I recently purchased a Bidet. After 8 months, the electronics went bad. The company is honoring the warranty, but I don't want it to fail again, so Supco #3 is on it now. These protectors are great. On power flicker, they shout off power for 3 minutes to the device. Our electric service is prone to frequent surges, drop outs and losses. I am tired of the rapidly flickering power playing havoc with my expensive devices. This one seems well made and is protecting my stuff. I can tell already this winter is going to be bad for reliable electric service, so this device will give me some peace of mind.

A bit pricey for what it is, but worth the protection
A bit pricy for what it is, hence the 4 stars, but seems to be doing its job. Unfortunately, competition for a surge protector like this that also includes a timer that delays turning its power back on after a surge hits, is hard to come by. So, I am grateful for this product. We had a crappy surge protector on our last freezer, and it caused the freezer to slowly die over a 3 months period after it took a hit from a storm we encountered. So, that said, this protector is worth getting.

Protection for refrigeration
My refrigerator quite. It cost $280 to purchase the control board. I asked the man selling me the part, what can I do to prevent me from having to purchase another board. He handed me this surge protector/timer. He said, when the power goes out in storm, the voltage as it comes back on can be multiplied, but that was only part of the problem. The refrigeration device, ie. refrigerator, freezer, AC while working has a pressure differential. Which means that the system is under a huge load and when the power goes out and then tries to come back on, the compressor is trying to restart and was not designed to do that. It overheats and the internal circuit breaker blows momentarily. It then resets, causing the unit overheat and blow the breaker again. This process is very hard on the compressor and the control board. The surge timer has a preset time that it causes the unit to stay off for four minutes. It takes 3 minutes for the pressure differential to decrease, which is much easier on the unit as it restarts again. I believe that this will cause my refrigerator to last 3 times longer than it would have without this product!!!!

New surge protectors protected refrigerator.
Shortly after plugging in the device we had a power surge. The lights dimmed but the refrigerator kept operating as usually. The status lights on the S.P. came on and reset after a few minutes. The previous surge resulted in a $500 repair.
