Revised review - Does NOT do the job...
It works with my new Surface Pro 2017 - great for when travelling and save having to unplug the original from my desk etc.Sadly I have downgraded this from an initial 5* to a 1* since, as others have mentioned, it not only got extremely hot - on the third time of attempting to charge my Surface Pro 2017 it failed to even register on the battery indicator.Putting a meter across the output terminals that connect directly into the Surface Pro charging port showed a zero current. In other words it has - on its third use - FAILED.Yet more junk coming from far away and money down the drain.

Doesn't work for Surface Pro m3 Model 1796
With both this and one work ordered for me too that were non Microsoft branded, sadly doesn't charge up the Surface. Perhaps i picked the wrong model for my surface lap top but be warned, you really have check compatibility -the charging connector fits, it lights up like my official one but it does not charge the laptop. I ordered it because i could not get hold of a Microsoft one -chap in Curry's has told me in UK a national shortage! be ready to be disappointed if you have the same surface pro as me.

I'm extremely satisfied with this product.
The item arrived professionally packaged and was exactly as described. Charges my suface pro 4 fast and the cable is longer than the original one .Would definitely recommend to anyone with a Surface tablet.

No problems
No problems here, Really like the car charger ,it charge very fast and are affordable.This device fit my car and work for my surface pro 2017. I am very happy with the quality.

Did not work
I ordered this with next day delivery because I urgently needed a Surface Pro charger. I have the 2017 model which the description of this product says is compatible.It does not work.

It gets so hot it is painful to touch
It works...but runs extremely hot. Not sure it is safe, to be honest. It gets so hot it is painful to touch. It powers the Surface, but am very concerned that it may not be safe. Already burned my hand - it gets that hot.
