Q: How is the quality of this salad maker?

Good. I was pleasantly surprised when I received it. I have used it to make salads. It can shred or slice vegetables very well, which greatly saves my cooking time.

Q: Can someone provide the dimensions of the louvers, please?

Overall unit is 8 1/8th square, and 5/8ths high, the louvers are 6 15/16ths, wide and 2 3/8ths high. I had to shave off a small amount to fit the existing unit in my wall, but it worked great.. Cheap enough, I bought a spare to use later if needed..

Q: Are the louvers meant to act as a damper (to block airflow entering from the outside)? Or should I install a damper in addition to this unit?

It helps a little, but the fan unit inside has a damper flap that stops the air from coming back in. The outside flaps tend to stick open when they get older or dirty.

Q: Will it fit a 6" pipe?

Yes, I have mine attached to a 6" flexible pipe.
