Full 5 star for this Noctua fan
After trying and returning few NOISY cheaper usb external fans, I finally took the plunge and got one of these internal Noctual ultra quiet fans, 900rpm, 12 decibels.I bought an USB cable adaptor and spent another 20 pounds on front and rear protection grills and there it was my newly converted EXTERNAL Noctua super-quiet fan.I am using it to cool externally my micro PC Dell Optiplex series 7000 which has a powerfull processor which was getting the whole unit really hot. The Noctua fan works like a charm in terms of Cooling and Quietness. Highly recommended. It makes a huge difference. Now the internal micro computer fan works only at iddling pace. Finally I got rid of the noise and I can focus on my music production studio monitors sound.

As quiet as you can get
These are the quietest fans you can buy. They make almost no noise and unless you put your ear to the case you have to check that they are actually spinning. Great if you use in conjunction with a fanless or zero rpm mode psu to build a silent nas or htpc.

expensive and basic
I was excited when I noticed 12 db sound. but not effective the way it was sold. I was using cheap 120mm fan, that made the same noise as this one at mid/voltage speed- it means this one not too loud- but not effective. cheap 120mm was more effective at low voltage than this one on full load/speed.

Great cooler dropped a star because one of the fans was doa had to buy another separately because I didn’t want to strip it out again to return it
